Funny thing is that for some years now, the Northern Irish Civil Service have been promoting positions/jobs while tagging on that they would particularly welcome applications from white male Protestants, mainly because they are under-represent in the NICS workforce.

Certainly at admin and the lower executive/managerial levels the NICS tends to have an above average of Catholics (both sexes) and Protestant women, but few Protestant men and has been for around 30+ years. Higher office levels tend to be more balanced with Protestant men featuring more prominently.

Probably doesn't happen in GB but for job applications in the public sector in NI you have to fill in a seperate form declaring your religion & ethnicity for monitoring & stats purposes (though you can decline to respond, and is supposed to be collected anonymously apart from the application form).
