Two more gone

Two Reform councillors defect to Restore Britain

Two Warwickshire county councillors have defected from Reform UK to Restore Britain.

Dan Glover and Rob Aitkenhead were both elected to the authority in the 2025 local elections.

Some have defected back to the Tories, some are sitting as independents. These two charmers have gone even further right.

At the current shrinkage rate, how long will it take for Fargle to run out of councillors?

That's why it would be stupid for a new Labour leader to call an early election. In three years time there'll be a very good chance that Reform/Restore will have eaten themselves.

That odious useful idiot for Reform UK, Zia Yusuf, was on a "special" Question Time, last night, supposedly to mark Keir Starmer's departure, and revealed an interesting nugget of information about why he has - curiously- never run for election as a candidate for Reform. Pressed on this apparent anomaly by the Tory Kevin Hollinrake, Yusuf angrily retorted that it was wrong to assume that he had never tried to get selected as a Reform candidate, though he visibly squirmed when Fiona Bruce tried to pin him down on whether he really meant that he had applied but had been rejected by his party, possibly multiple times.

What could it possibly be about the brown complexioned son of muslim immigrants from Sri Lanka, Muhammad Ziauddin Yusuf, that could have led to his colleagues in Reform UK declining to select him as a candidate?

Wouldn't that be an advantage?

That's no bar to being selected to represent a right-wing Party.

Exhibit A: the disgraced Jonathan Sayeed, MP for mid Bedfordshire until he was sacked for being on the take*. Oleaginous cunt is exactly what he was.

Reformers aren't usually smart enough to be oily players. They don't mind 'the odd one' but Zia probably comes across as a bit too fancy pants for back woods half sharps.

I liked the moment when Zia Yusef called Fiona Bruce a liar and accused the biased BBC of rigging the audience because only eight of the audience were prepared to admit, on camera, that they support Reform.
If Reform win in 2029, Bruce will be up against the wall, last fag, bop, bop, bop.

Ben Habib stood for them twice for them in Wellingborough. After the general election he got pushed aside pretty sharpish though as they brought in Yusef and he had outlived his usefulness to them. Hence why he left in a strop.

Interestingly, only a year ago, Yusuf resigned as chair of Reform UK, saying " "I no longer believe working to get a Reform government elected is a good use of my time, and hereby resign the office." only to do a reverse ferret within days and withdraw his resignation.

He is phenomenally wealthy, but without doubt an utter cunt of the first water.

A Reform UK councillor has quit after just 48 days in the role, sparking a by-election.

Clr Craig Wiles was one of three Reform UK councillors elected in Almondbury, a previous Liberal Democrat stronghold, at the all-out Kirklees Council elections on May 7.

Yesterday, Reform UK leader Clr Sarah Wood announced that Mr Wiles had resigned but declined to explain the reasons why...

I do wonder if a lot of these people looked at Farage and thought they'd like a slice of his grifting pie - after all, it looks like easy money, doesn't it? - but then discovered that you actually have to work in local government and thought "sod this"?

I don't think it's the easy life/easy money thing, as the majority of them have stayed on as councillors. I think it's more to do with the utter toxicity of FFC, Tice, and a few others at the top, and the die-hard knuckle draggers in the rank and vile. Quite a few of the quitters have cited lack of support, lack of organisation, and yes, toxic people, among their reasons for leaving.

It could be a case of unthinking casual racism coming into contact with rabid racism and not liking what it sees. From experience of living among them I am quite confident in saying that a lot of people who casually use racist language do actually regard 'Them' as fellow humans. The dyed-in-the-wool knuckle draggers view 'Them' as some kind of vermin, and a lot of people find this view distasteful.

In short, people who play at being racist meet actual racists and are horrified by what they see.

Consider how crap the average Reform candidate is.

Then consider that Zia Yusuf can't even get selected.

From what I've read, a well known and highly respected civic figure among people with no political axe to grind.
Council boss quits one month after Reform win

His resignation follows the Reform administration telling council officers to stop working towards a planned shake-up of local government in Norfolk, which would abolish district and county councils for a new unitary system.

McCabe said: "It is with mixed feelings that I have made this decision. Norfolk has been my family's home for the last 13 years and we have felt welcome from day one." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2knk25n01o

To a lesser extent you got this in a lot of Labour Party groups under Corbyn. Once they found out the mind numbing boredom of preparing the minutes and agenda they soon quit their roles.
