It looks like Jenrick has been given the job of defending the indefensible on todays political shows. Apparently he described the Sunday Times as a Labour supporting newspaper.

A smear story, apparently. A smear in the Jeremy Corbyn sense, reporting stuff Farage has said and done.
Jenrick pointed out its old news. It is to the politically engaged but only becomes news to Jo Public when Murdoch or Rothermere says it is.

I suspect the press barons (both Print and GB news) are making a pivot.

They've squeezed nearly two decades of chaos out of their "great man".
They've expended massive energy in protecting his reputation.
He's delivered a referendum, an election and a favourable narrative.

Now they see the cost benefit decreasing.
The reputation washing is growing harder, he mixes with dodgy characters and all he delivers is riots.

They'll return to a revolving door model.
A guess who "cunt of the month" of say what they think common sensers interspersed with thought leading "say what we can't say" intellectuals.
Nigel's become too expensive.
You can get Two Jenricks, a Kruger and a Pochin for half the price.
When the replacements shit the bed they'll wheel out a superannuated Olympian with opinions, or an entertainer from a 1970s sitcom.

Nigel can cross the Atlantic and board the Johnsonian grift train.
In 20 year's time the press will remember him as an Enoch Powell figure "Best PM we never had".

Was the pasting in Makerfield the moment Farage was ejected into the pool of pirahnnas?
His mission was to deliver Singapore on Thames and instead we have a Labour government introducing workers rights, tax rises, public ownership and a renewable electric economy. Stuff a more compliant Blair wouldn't have contemplated even inside the EU. What a disappointing waste of time Farage has been for the real elites.

Hacked Off's Hugh Grant (not a known Labour supporter) turning up to support Burnham in Makerfield might have concentrated minds in the press to bank a few favours with Andy.

Whilst Ozempic Bob says "nothing to see here",

Lib Dem MP Josh Babarinde has asked Greenberg to "get to the bottom" of the latest allegations linked to Farage's support from Cottrell.

Babarinde has also asked Greenberg to confirm whether he will investigate the claims as part of the existing inquiry or as a separate matter.

The press barons want to upset things, up to a point. They want people to be angry, brittle, volatile - but will always pull back when shit looks like it's getting real. If you remember the BLM protests, the Sun quickly found its ideal middle ground, all of us against the extremists, whatever their cause.

They cannot endorse, or be thought of endorsing, violence. They also know that while shit stirring can be fun, the last thing they, or their readers, want is to actually live in a fascist police state. Because sooner or later, it'll be them in the firing line.
