Rumour has it Carole Vorderman has thrown her hat in the ring. Celebrity candidates don't have a good track record and even if they're in a mainstream party, they play down their showbiz past. Voderman is a serious person but that gives the contest more credibility as its not just Farage Vs a bloke with a bin on his head.

There's always one who has to spoil it for everyone else. Like school with a supply teacher covering last lesson: "You can finish 15 minutes early if there's silence while you get on with your work." There'd always be some cunt who just couldn't keep his mouth shut.

Apart from them already having a celebrity MP, what's the point of her doing this? She'll lose and Farage will be able to claim a victory over the combined forces of the Woke establishment.

Precisely this, especially with Vorderman.

I don't think Vorderman will want to stand against Fargle in his contrived pantomime by-election . She's far more savvy than that, will be talking to Labour and perhaps the other proper political parties as well, and will follow suit on them in not falling into line with Fargle's egotistical spin of the electoral roulette wheel.

Now, if and when Fargle is returned after the panto by-election and the parliamentary standards investigation resumes, and, it can be presumed, results in a legitimate further by-election, that's a different matter. Vorderman may well stand in that one, and might even, if all the parties can agree to give her a clear run, be persuaded to do it as an anti-corruption candidate in the manner of Martin Bell in 1997 in Tatton - where he successfully brought down the loathsome (friend of Fargle) Neil Hamilton.

On another note, Count Binface was interviewed by Nick Robinson on the Today programme earlier - at about ten to nine. He was quite brilliant.

Binface is leagues away from the monster raving loony type of “joke” candidate. Yes it’s a bit of a laugh, but the guy knows his shit and is very much able to hold his own.

I think this is an even bigger backfire than Farage realises - his only opponent can make him look pompous and stupid, and also dismantle him on policy if the need arises!

I'm getting most of this from Bluesky, treat with appropriate caution.

It appears:
* BBC has done a serious politics interview with Binface.
* Badenoch has called Binface "The people's candidate".

Could Binface emerge as "Britain Zelensky" - A performance artist / comic who rode the zeitgeist?

I see (above) Binface has many media invitations.
It would be bloody brilliant if the same outlets didn't invite Farage "for balance".

I can't wait to watch the Binface clips on YouTube.

I'm completely aware that this is a "Weimar cabaret comic spoofing the Brownshirts" moment.
But after so many years disappointment I'm going to enjoy it.

Cue the "Who is Count Binface" headlines, along the lines of he's really a well known person, the Masked Singer* for politics.

*a popular** television programme m'Lud, in which so called celebrities hid behind outlandish costumes, sing, and a panel has to guess who they are

** well, popular with my m-i-l

Neither do Farage's voters need Carol V to inform them that he's a dodgy misogynist racist prick. That's why they vote for him.

Binface's podcast is well worth a listen. I think he's a satirical comedy writer so the Zelensky comparison isn't far fetched.

Today I find myself in complete agreement with Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch, Ed Davey, Zack Polanski and Rupert Fucking Lowe.

On being asked today if he had been to Clacton, Binface answered “I have not been to Clacton. Based on the activities of the incumbent, I believed that was the correct process.”

Farage isn’t going to last a week of this

Apparently, if Binface can be dissuaded from standing (which might be tough, since this is pure gold for his brand), and Fargle is the only nominated by-election candidate, they don’t bother holding a ballot (what would be the point ?) , and just appoint the one nominated candidate - i.e. Fargle - without further ado.

Farage is going to be left looking a right chump.
