I saw him live at our local theatre before he came out as a raving right-winger, and got the GB News gig (I knew he came across as small-c conservative, but wasn't sure how much of it was a persona). He was actually good for a giggle.

He's both ruined his routines and - as with Norcott - scuppered any other mainstream career since he took the GB News gig and took the mask off. Right wing punch-down 'humour' just isn't funny.

Also recall Simon Evans being funny and thought the grumpy suburban Tory snob was a persona.

Me too. I've not heard him for years, but I remember him from the News Quiz about 20 years ago, I thought he was an improved version of the kind of posh Tory twat Harry Enfield used to do.
