Epiphanal moment here :
Andy Burnham is, quite literally, our last chance.
It's that important.
Why? Because unless this country is persuaded not to elect a Reform government in 2029, everything goes to absolute shit in short order. Friends and neighbours seized on the street and forcibly deported. The NHS transformed into a private profit-driven enterprise accessible only to those that can afford to pay for medical treatment. Cities fucked up, probably permanently. Development not just stalled, but halted. Social housing? Forget it. Climate emergency? Ignore it. Equality and Diversity legislation wantonly scrapped. Even more cash diverted into the pockets of Farage via favourable crypto-currency regulations Reform would introduce. Racism in all its hideous forms emboldened, legitimised, and made more prevalent than ever.
Burnham has been elected as Labour leader with one purpose : to transform the Labour Party's and the Labour government's electoral fortunes, and enable it to withstand the very real threat to this country from Reform. That we need him also to be a truly excellent PM who delivers for the UK is almost of secondary importance.
I'll say it again. Andy Burnham is our last chance.
