I was only taught the King James version (and I've forgotten most of that) so I'm not really qualified to comment.

I was recently listening to a podcast where somebody was venting about US remakes of British TV and film - The Office, The Italian Job etc - his line was that the originals were the "real" ones. My reaction was neither are real as neither exist. If you prefer the original then say that, but both are fictional and I can't get excited about changes.

What I do take exception to is rewriting history eg U-571 in which a real Royal Navy operation is transferred to the US Navy presumably for sake of box-office. If you're going to tell a true story, tell it as truthfully as you can.

Something I read earlier that didn't seem to make sense but does after a bit of thought. He's bitter that the other Pythons moved on and he couldn't. I did think it was daft because he's done Fawlty Towers, Clockwise and then, er, what else in the past forty years? Eric Idle and Michael Palin in particular reinvented themselves while Cleese is still known for funny walks and casual racism.
