The departure of Farage could be a 'be careful what you wish for' moment. Without him the dustbin voters could well move back to a more populist Tory party while the conspiracy theorists and borderline fascists might think that the Establishment did for moderate Nigel so may as well go full-on with Lowe. The best option is to keep Farage limping along, retaining enough support to stop both those things but never seriously threatening again.

I know. But until polling day, I can still cherish a delicious possibility.

David Davis got 72% of the vote when they held his pointless by-election back in 2008. I'd be happy if Farage got less than that in Clacton.

A lot of their appeal to some areas are they are not Tories though., otherwise people won’t vote.

That pacts a double edge sword plus the Tories who went over were the crud.

More of Nigel's "patriots" in action.

Gang of men hurl racist abuse at takeaway owner before violent attack

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c2eln8drwlmo
A business owner has said that a group of men hurled racist abuse at him before punching him and smashing his head into a wall in the street in Falkirk.

Dr Zohaib Arshad said the group approached him on Grahams Road last month when he was visiting one of his takeaway shops and asked him when he was "leaving the country" before launching the unprovoked attack.

A thought, one that's probably been aired in other places.

Several speculators suggest Farage might tire of the questions and walk away.

Let's consider an alternative.
One where some of Farage's less pleasant backers don't want to lose their investment.
One where he receives an "offer he can't refuse" to carry on the act - or disappear in an unpleasant accident.

A good point.

Ever watch a WW2 documentary and think "Hitler? What a weirdo!"? Just remember that he was outwardly the most normal of the bunch. Same with the Fargle mob.
