I'm respectable. I'm old. Politicians, ugly buildings, and whores all get respectable if they last long enough.

Damn you, now I am weighing up the merits of Nick Timothy, Mark Francois, Iain Duncan-Smith...

A former neo-Nazi activist with convictions including for harassing a Jewish MP has been selected as a Conservative candidate for a local election in Somerset.

Joshua Bonehill-Paine, the creator of the viral Crewkerne Gazette series of AI clips, is due to stand for election to Somerset council next year in a new Crewkerne South district. He told the Guardian he was an executive member of the Tories’ Yeovil branch, working as an events organiser.

“The branch and indeed party are fully aware of my past. Our chairman has been a vocal advocate and has supported me since I became a member of the party. I am very grateful for the support,” he said.

Bonehill-Paine, who previously described himself as a “nationalist, fascist, theorist and supporter of white rights”, re-emerged in recent years as the creator of the Crewkerne Gazette, a satirical online account that has gained a cult following.

Still, I'm sure that if a Muslim went to jail for terror-related offences, came out claiming to be reformed and was nominated as a Labour candidate, the Mail/Express/GBeebies would congratulate him on turning his life around.

James O'Brien's having fun with this.
You can't stand for the Conservatives if you support Net Zero
You can't stand for the Conservatives if you support Human Rights
You can stand for the Conservatives if you are a Neo-Nazi who has served time for threatening Jewish MPs and inciting racial hatred.

For a fleeting moment I felt a flicker of sympathy for Grant Shapps, but it quickly passed.

Some of you may remember his party manifesto, including his philosophy of "Bonehillism", and the "touch of Aryus" that he could bestow upon you to awaken your inner Nazi. A deeply odd guy, seemingly walking the line between true believer and blatant con artist.

Kemi doesn't seem the sort to give anyone a first chance. Who's going to swallow this nonsense?

It's more like his fifth or sixth chance. Apart from the other stuff he used to trawl the internet looking for photos of murder victims and say they'd been killed by anti-racism activists. He was an absolute menace then and it beggars belief that he's changed.
