The right to trial by jury is one of those things, like the church down the road, that only affects a tiny minority of the population. You could live a dozen lives and never be called for jury service, live a hundred without standing trial before your peers. I doubt one in a thousand Christians will worship this Sunday (and none of them will be Steven Yaxley-Lennon or Paul Golding). But the merest suggestion of either being scrapped and it's all a cultural Marxist Fabian woke plot that must be challenged.

Derbyshire Live understands both organisations were informed last night the PM would be at the visit and they would be able to speak to him.

Our reporter was also called by the DWP last night and told only Pat McFadden would be present, then given an arrival time. Our reporter arrived at the time he was told, which turned out to be just as the other media organisations were finishing their interviews with Mr Burnham.

Nigel repeatedly asked to speak to Mr Burnham and was told “Pat McFadden is handling the media.” Then: “He’s on a tight schedule” and finally just a straightforward “no”.

It looks to me like a local journalist doing a bit of "Don't you know who I am?" He spoke to the BBC and a national press agency. He didn't have time to speak to everyone and from the response he didn't miss much.

There's a YouTube channel called Glasgow Alive.
It's been going since 2022, but has only recently been promoted into my views.

About 2 months ago it's style pivoted from "Here's some news about Glasgow" to "Shock horror, Glasgow has fallen".
Postings are a collection of old video clips montaged to imply there are daily major police incidents.

It doesn't go away in response to "Don't recommend this channel" requests.


I find the editorial pivot and simultaneous unusual algorithmic promotion rather suspicious.

Were I set on spreading misinformation, a subverted existing channel would be a better tool than a new obvious astroturf.

He’s keeping another 1,000 in prison compared with Starmer. Smart politics? Possibly though the capacity problems are terrifying.

This may or may not be a good idea, may not amount to much at all, or may just be good communication to encourage smaller businesses to get involved. But I'd be surprised if "soft left Starmer critic" Lou Haigh would have been cheerleading for it under the previous PM- some of this stuff relates to green issues.

Actually, that may be unfair, I think she is more open minded on "growth" stuff than some, so she may be a bad example. But the green angle would have led the news in liberal-left media for days.
