Is being punished for life for your mistakes a progressive position? There’s plenty of anti-racist activists previously involved in fascist groups before repenting. Admittedly signing up to be a councillor for a Farage tribute act Tory Party is an odd route to redemption.

Generally, I would expect this chap to get a life ban. There's a lot of it, over a long period.

While not wishing to dismiss the valuable ideals of rehabilitation, forgiveness, and redemption, it should not be the business of any serious political party even to consider embracing someone with such a reprehensible record. Even Farage would have the political nous to give this guy a wide berth.
