Out of curiosity - and having heard many mentions of it by his father - I decided to see if there really was a maximum height for soldiers in the US Army which would disqualify Barron Trump.

TL:DR - not any more.

https://home.army.mil/carson/8117/8345/ ... 3_ABCP.pdf

Basically, as long as your waist to height ratio is under 0.55, you can serve in all branches of the US Army. Previously, you had to be either over 60 inches in height or under 80 inches if male, 58 - 80 if female. The superseded tables are here: https://www.army.mil/e2/downloads/rv7/r ... r600_9.pdf

So: off you fuck to Iran, Barron

Don't any of the US air military currently in active service in Iran wonder what the fuck they are doing there and why they are dropping bombs. Why don't they just resign? Airforce pilots I assume would generally be more intelligent than the land and sea military (any old thicko can even be in the SAS, ie Ant Middleton) so in theory would be more likely to critically think. None of them, on their own several thousand feet up, think "why am I doing this- because Trump said so?"

On the other hand, they wouldn't become a fighter pilot as an alternative to unemployment so they're likely to be as MAGA as their commander in chief. I can well imagine them thinking they're doing God's work just like grandpappy did in Vietnam.

Probably think they are fighting for the flag.

This is driven into them from a very early age, I was asking a colleague of mine and she was a Democrat but there was a line about flag that you couldn’t cross.

You know those tropes about US education and the Yanks woeful lack of geographical knowledge? Well...

A US government map of Africa mislabeled every country during a state department presentation at a global conference in Brazil this week, causing a stir among attenders who took screenshots and posted them online.

Reuters viewed a video of the presentation given at the Aids 2026 conference in Rio de Janeiro, which shows the errant map displayed halfway during a presentation about the state department’s new health agreements....

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... -countries
...The map showed Nigeria, where the US currently has several hundred troops deployed, as landlocked in the Sahara desert. Mozambique, which is in south-eastern Africa, was relocated to the Horn of Africa, while Côte d’Ivoire in west Africa was placed on the other side of the continent.

Screenshots of the map first appeared in a Substack post by the Aids expert Emily Bass and were widely ‌shared on LinkedIn, with one post garnering about 40,000 views.

“Whoever created and approved this slide did not know where countries in Africa are and did not care to check their work,” wrote Matt Petit, who focuses on AI and geopolitics at the Atlantic Council, in the post...

Trump administration drops Reflecting Pool vandalism charge and admits 'botched' repairs

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cz05yx5dd7yo
US prosecutors have dropped charges against a former Olympian who had been accused of vandalising the Reflecting Pool in Washington DC, writing in court documents that the damage is now believed to be "the result of flawed installation by the contractor".

President Donald Trump had previously blamed the damage on "sick, deranged" vandals.

But a document filed by prosecutors in Washington DC on Friday says new information "strongly suggests that a rushed and botched installation" job overseen by the US Department of Interior led to the damage.

David Hearn, a champion canoeist, had been facing a 10-year prison sentence if found guilty after his arrest last month.
* Massive police operation.
* Innocents vilified, harassed and arrested.
* Several hours of Prsidential social media activity.
* Usual suspects echoing Trump's every word.

Authoritarianism, corruption and creating an imaginary internal enemy.
I'm sure I've seen those on a checklist somewhere.

Yet another example of American leftists being arseholes.

https://www.wcmu.org/local-regional-new ... cond-event
Democratic Primary candidate Haley Stevens left her rally in Traverse City Friday after social media influencer and political activist Walter Masterson loudly questioned her association with the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, also known as AIPAC.

Stevens was talking to locals and community members when the influencer, with more than 5 million followers on TikTok and Instagram, showed up and boisterously interrogated the U.S. Senate candidate about her campaign funding.

“Haley Stevens takes $46 million dollars in PAC money,” Masterson said. “That’s the kind of small-town values Michiganders love.”

The event at Right Brain Brewery was hosted with support from the Grand Traverse Democratic Party.

The current Michigan 11th Congressional District representative was escorted to her car by her campaign staff and swiftly left the scene, while Masterson stayed outside the car to shout about AIPAC.

Later that evening, she canceled her meet and greet with voters in Bay City because Masterson was in attendance.

Democrats do seem determined to give the Republicans another six years, don't they? Happier to make YouTube videos and wring their hands on the sidelines.

It's less about the Democrats; it's more about who those in the DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) want to, in effect, take over the Democratic Party. If you rail against the establishment Democrats, go on about Gaza, they will give you a free pass for anything you've said or done, no matter how idiotic.

She's now the Democratic nominee for governor of Wisconsin, and she will almost certainly lose.
Important update: When I made that post, I forgot that the primary was, in fact, this week, and good news: Francesca Hong lost, which makes it much harder for the Republicans to gain this governorship.

I'm pleasantly surprised. Francesca Hong didn't look very good in the clips I saw, and was being rather desperately talked up by some on Bluesky. For instance, a bit of "who's the real extremist?" stuff was talked up as political genius, when it was the bare minimum.

This chap's rather missing out that Crowley was massively behind. It really is stunning, and there's a lesson for the progressives somewhere. State governorships in swing state is not the ideal position for them. It's a powerful executive position, unlike being a US Senator- that's a better fit for progressives, I think

As with Biden's 2020 victory in the South Carolina primary, there will be some awkwardness among progressives that lots of the people who've voted for the moderate candidate aren't wealthy AIPAC elitists, but not very well of black people.
