Interesting article from one of the few good Guardian writers, Heather Stewart. Has productivity been underestimated?

There's the considerable caveat that the new estimate comes from some people who previously advised Reeves, though they are credible people. Comments are barely adult.
Reeves was and will more than likely remain a product of a system that worships greed over people's living standards. She was unashamedly advocating for trickle down neoliberal economics, which has been shown over fifty years to be one of the main drivers of wealth inequality.
Neoliberalism is boosting working rights, raising taxes for public spending, and having close to the highest minimum wage in the world, apparently.
We are in the age of the zombie economy. Fantasy and reality are interchangeable as shown by the proclamations of Trump and Starmer.
Starmer, just like Trump, making shit up all the time.
So it is all really a best guess and should never be called "data" as "data" would suggest accuracy. The government should do what is in the interests of the vast majority of the population and ignore big money influence and dodgy "data".
How on earth would you know what was in the interests of the vast majority if you didn't measure anything? Clever man uses inverted commas though.
One of Reeves' biggest blunders was going around talking about 'deregulation' all the time, when the public associate that word with broken Britain, being ripped off, and disasters like Grenfell. And of course use of that word signalled an intent to carry on with Thatcherite economics
Funny, other places manage to build railways and power stations without them blowing up, for far less than we do. Is France "Thatcherite"?
I was always wary of government statostics ever siince Tony Blair's people measured EU immigration by just counting the numbers arriving at Gatwick and Heathrow -
Did he indeed?!
I'm afraid Reeves lost me when she said she was "listening to the concerns of the non-dom community."
She put up taxes on them. That's more than any politician this chap supports has ever managed to do.
