One of the 'patriots' filmed berating the vicar is James Henry Holmes a bloke I mentioned earlier in this thread. He is a property developer from Sheffield who tried to make his mark in Restore only for Rupert Lowe to tell him where to get off. I think if you are too toxic even for Rupert Lowe you really must be a special kind of scumbag. He seems to specialise in filming people who he argues with and then edits any footage to try and present himself in a good light.

Vicar "surrounded by patriots" as police guard church during Doncaster protests

Why would any media outlet describe them as patriots?
It's easier to use their terms than think up a more appropriate one. In the same way that it's easier for police to uphold the right to protest than to do their job properly.
I can think up 8 or 9 alternatives, took me half a minutes.

Rupert Lowe's found some mug businessman with a sense of destiny to donate £500k to him.

(Simon) Galbraith said his company Cade Hill Investments had given the money as he believes that “most British people sense Britain’s decline”.

“There is a centralised, bloated and incompetent state which is increasingly undemocratic, British institutions are unfocused on what they should be for and our democracy doesn’t represent the interests and opinions of many,” he said in a statement. “Things are worse than most people realise, but the opportunity is much greater than everyone thinks too. If Restore win power, I think it will spark a British renaissance.”
Increasingly undemocratic, ie people I hate won under the same rules as people I like won for many years.

Interesting commitment to the opinions of the many there. What's the betting that would become standard parliamentary majority philosophy if they won power? And doubtless the need for lots of "difficult decisions, which other people aren't clever enough to understand.

I hadn't seen Lowe's offer to work with Farage. I won't spoil you with his areas of cooperation, but it's basically Geoffrey Palmer in Fairly Secret Army.

Yesterday Lowe was claiming that he would use the full powers of the state to deport millions of migrants now he is accepting money from a bloke who wants to reduce the size of the state. Restore really don't do consistency.
