I watched as much of Farage’s conference speech as I could tolerate. Which admittedly wasn’t much. It was almost Nurembergian. Complete with stirring martial music and fucking fireworks to greet the dear leader taking the stage, apparently after some delay “for security reasons”.

It was horrible. Fascistic and grating. There were three hecklers in the audience, all of whom were strong-armed out of the auditorium by Reform goons , one young woman being carried out bodily. Grim stuff. Farage’s response from the stage was to shout “BORING, BORING !”. At least he didn’t shout “BERNARD MANNING”.

There seems to be a belief among Reform types that the problem with the Tories is that they didn't go far enough, and that if Fargle comes to power, he will miraculously brush aside whatever bureaucratic barriers hampered previous governments.

West Midland's police have denied that they told Farage to delay his speech. This seems to be a repeat of what he did in Clacton when he falsely claimed that police had advised him to miss the count.

At least one of them has managed to grow up.

A former Reform UK councillor has joined the Liberal Democrats.

Kathryn Shaw was first elected to West Northamptonshire Council when Reform took overall control from the Conservatives in May 2025.

But she quit Nigel Farage's party in March, becoming an independent, and has now joined the Lib Dem group.

"Over the past eight months, I've had a lot of time to reflect on what matters most to me, both as a councillor and as a person," said Shaw, who represents Upton ward.

"For me, it has always been about people before politics, with children, families and our communities at the forefront of everything I do."

After being elected with Reform last year, she became portfolio holder for children, families and education. She stepped down from the role at the start of 2026.

Her move to the Lib Dems takes the group's total to eight councillors and makes it the joint second-largest opposition party at the council alongside Labour, which also has eight...
