Well, purely objectively of course, I’d say that this year’s Reform conference has been an unmitigated fucking disaster.

In public relations terms, if it was intended to convince undecided voters (forget the swivel-eyed fuckwits in union jack suits actually attending) that here is a capable, trustworthy, and professional party worthy of forming the UK’s next government and led by a solidly honest, unimpeachably upright guy, then it has surely failed miserably. And without those undecided voters, they are frankly fucked. And that’s before you even get to the array of absolute proven wankers populating their front rank : Jenrick, Braverman, Kruger, Zahawi, Dorries, Jenkyns, Cunningham … the list goes on. And on.

I don’t think even the ghost of Anne Widdecombe would count this conference any sort of success.

The BBC don't seem particularly arsed with the multiple assaults on the woman at the Reform conference. Indeed, but I do find it a bit tiresome that it's always the BBC that's held to account when, as they say, "other broadcasters are available" who seemingly do just as little about it.

And the placemen go right back to "Marmalade Pussy", as he was nicknamed at the time.

I don't know which interfering politician got rid of the Board of Governors (edit: Blair, in 2007) which had served the BBC well for decades, but that was made up of six from the Left and six from the Right of politics.

He also received apologies the following day from the Prime Minister, party chairman and conference chair, and was allowed back into the conference, where he received a standing ovation. These things are rarely mentioned when the incident is recalled.

Would be England only, I'm sure. Reform don't like the devolved parliaments, but they probably wouldn't want the extra aggravation of running education there.

And I think it would be a liability in England, like the wider Reform stuff on education. Parents tend to like their kids' teachers, despite 50 years of effort from the press to make out that the teachers are idiots.
