There has been a serious amount of racism and antisemitism on twitter today aimed towards the woman from Somali who could well be the Labour candidate and Zac Polanski who could be the candidate for the Green Party. Both these candidates are considerably better than most of the candidates in the Clacton by-election.

White people from the home counties are the largest migrant group into London which is an unsurprising finding to anyone who isn't a quarter wit. And therefore not Restore voters.

He does loathe Farage and if it was him who convinced Musk that Lowe was the man to back (in order to piss on Nigel's chips), that's one of Demented Dom's better 5D chess strategies.

Zack Polanski is facing unexpected internal opposition in his bid to fight the Holborn and St Pancras byelection for the Greens, with a local councillor saying he is also seeking the nomination and that the seat needs a local MP, not “a politician you’ll only see on a leaflet”.

Hamza Chowdhury, a Green councillor on Camden council in north London, said in a post that he had received nomination from six other Greens, meaning seven of the 10 Greens on the council oppose Polanski being selected.

This is strong opposition to a party leader running in a promising seat. Zack will doubtless win with the Jez types- the actual Green councillor will have been found to have "waved through cuts" at some stage on some obscure committee.

Burnham's accession has closed the portal for Zack in urban Labour seats for now. So fair play to him standing in a seat he knows he'll lose.

Zack has faded rather of late. I hope he can't win, but almost 30% voted Green or for Andrew Feinstein (of Stop The War and standing with David Miller).

Best result is that Zack makes an utter arse of himself in full public view. He's rather faded lately, with the idiotic response to the Golders Green attack. Hopefully the Wealth Tax gets a bit of scrutiny, or at least the zillion times that Zack intends to spend it.

Labour has selected Camden Council leader Sagal Abdi-Wali as candidate in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election.

Abdi-Wali has been the councillor for Camden Square ward since 2022 and became leader in May 2026.

She has held responsibility for housing and adult social care, working with local residents, businesses, and organisations to secure over £670 million to improve Camden’s social housing, and has put tackling energy bills at the heart of Camden’s priorities, with nearly £30 million being invested to retrofit around 3,000 council homes.

Abdi-Wali said: “I am delighted that local members have put their trust in me to be Labour’s candidate in the area I’ve grown up in.

“This place welcomed my family as refugees and gave us hope when we needed it most. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to build a life here, serving our community as a councillor, school governor, and community activist. Now I am standing to say thank you and to give back the hope you gave me.

Leader of the local council is almost always a solid local pick, but I wonder it's right against a broadbrush gobshite like Polanski. One of her strengths will be local knowledge and experience, but Polanski doesn't even pretend to compete on that. Perhaps she can shut down the ludicrous "genocide" angle a bit, but there will (because it's impossible not to be the case) that something in the Camden budget will have been cut this year. The council leader gets that hung around her neck.

It wasn't surprising to hear Tory backbench voices support the government line on Israel. The party has always had a FO Arabist contingent and generally steered a balanced course in Middle East affairs in the post war years. The Tories didn't see it in Britain's interests to upset Anglophile oil sheikhs with big defence budgets too much.
This rejection of this realpolitik in favour slavishly following the Israeli line is vacuous fringe populism and childish tactics (yah boo Labour are anti semites).
