The Robinson/Farage split happened a while back - I think it was over Farage condemning the riots in Northern Ireland. Farage was dismissed as "woke" and a "traitor", possibly by Robinson himself.

Tim Montgomerie's status as someone worth listening to seems to have been built entirely on the fact he founded and ran Conservative Home. This was taken to mean he had intel on the mood of the Tory grassroots, bollocks of course because the self-selecting commentators on there represented nobody but themselves.

I'm still astonished anyone has the temerity to assume what anyone needs is to treat everything like a business, especially at a time of high public anger about water companies.

Business have become the ur-organisational concept of all human activity. It's utterly, utterly bizarre. It's a really dangerous and strange feedback loop, too: 'I spend all my time in this business world, therefore it's the real world, therefore the entire world should be like the real world, no sir this isn't ideology, this is common sense'.
