I am not a queen, often, and I have no staff, in that sense, but I do have a pair of Red Wings which just turned 28.

From memory, I paid about eighty quid for them back then and they are worth considerably more than that now. Decent boots will never let you down.

I bought a pair of Timberland boots for about £25 in New York, back in the glorious late nineties days of a $1.75 exchange rate and less airport security so you could almost do a shopping trip in a day.

I've a pair of Doc Martens that will be 10 this year (though the rubber sole does need replacing)

It's a bit of a PITA but worth doing. Red Wing soled my boots a couple of years ago for about 40€, if I recall correctly. They were returned to me as good as new.

my primary pair:
Once for dancing; anywhere form the Electric Ballroom to the Hammersmith Palais.
Now turned 40, and mainly used for wet weather walks and gardening.

Wot?
The reason Harry didn't attend was because he decided not to go. Whether Meghan agreed is irrelevant, he wasn't going.
The Queen had ten other options. She has three children other than Andrew and seven grandchildren other than Harry. Why would it be a binary choice between Andrew and Harry?

Erm.... I fear my satirical parody headline may have been more realistic than I thought.

It's probably only a matter of time until something like that DOES turn up though.

Ah, I forget who first announced the death of satire. Plato probably.
Whatever, The Mail passed beyond parody many years ago.
You literally COULD make it up (in fact you did!). :D

Meanwhile, the righter side of the fourth estate will gloss over PR hiccups like this:

I think she was badly advised on letting “ the Andrew formerly known as” front up the other day

According to James O'Brien, Andrew escorting her took the other Royals by surprise.

Dodgy evasive nonce or not, Andrew Windsor supporting his frail nonagenarian widowed mother to a memorial service for her husband of seventy-odd years and his dad is something I can’t seem to raise an objection to. Yes, Phil the Greek’s memorial was a public event, and if they really did mean that Andrew Windsor is to be removed entirely from all public view, he should not have been there, but it was also very much an intensely personal event not just for Brenda, but for the entire clan.

To draw a totally crap parallel, there's a reason Vito Corleone kept Fredo closest to him. Because he was fucking useless on his own.

I am not sure that this is a widely held opinion and could be possible seen as cutting a child rapist some slack. Nonetheless, I share it and have just been keeping quiet until the whole thing blows over.

I have made little mention either of the women-folk all tipping up in British Racist Green. Was it Phil's favourite colour or summat?

Was it BRG or Lincoln Green? The latter has some military connection, I think.
