Lineker having famously never criticised Qatar. And tax dodging? Do Matt's mates on the populist right cough up more tax than they have to? Do they have luxury beliefs they don't have to live with, at all?

I thought the main problem with metropolitan areas is that it’s full of ‘em. Is Gary part of a different elite?

Gary lives in Barnes, so probably not too many of em round there. Then again he has had a couple live in his house, so that probably counts. That's two more than the number of homeless veterans that Matt has put up,, I reckon.

Anyone see his latest definition of the New elite.

Basically most of it boiled down to the old elite, bar the new elite are less likely to be male, white, racist.

Matt’s pitch to the Barnsley Chronicle on the wonders of Trussonomics wasn’t commissioned then?

It all boils down to the cool kids whose parties they don' get invited to.

Well indeed. Very close to "not properly black".

And anyway, Stephen Bush went to a comprehensive in Bethnal Green.

I think it's pretty clear from the tweets that Matt doesn't care very much about economics at all. And whatever Lexit twattery he's managed to chuck together for his book is unlikely to change my mind. "Mexicans taking your job" seems like an all too convenient fit.

Can’t be bothered to read Matt’s views on why the nation state can counterbalance the power of ‘hyperglobalisation’ better than a regional block. He should stick to his core subjects like complaining about too many black actors and lefties working on Doctor Who.

..."small c" cultural values...
Does this actually mean anything, or is Mattie just plucking waffle from his arse again?

He left the word "conservative" out, I think.

Anyway, why is he so sure about this? Did the Regency rakes in his cartoon history world have small c cultural values?

How are the educated middle classes the elite, aren’t they middle class? And when did they gain control of means of production, distribution and exchange? As economic leftists like me and Matt define the elite.

It means "nothing against them gays but that's going a bit far".

It's not unlike (in that it's functionally identical) to noted loyalist ballbag Jamie Bryson's thesis that the Fenians have captured the levers of power in Northern Ireland by the insidious subterfuge of getting educated and getting jobs.
