If Byline Times seemed to suggest that the Home Office did something which it didn't, a few questions spring to mind.

Was this an oversight due to limited resources and or a looming deadline?
Are they trotting out mendacious fantasies at the behest of an overseas billionaire (hand-chopping: optional) in order to drive the UK news agenda?
Are all media/news outlets ripe for a kicking?

(Clue; it is unlikely to be both.)

A hard left blog is on a deranged campaign of harassment designed to destroy me financially, mentally and professionally – but, with your help, they will not succeed.

Byline Times has eschewed all journalistic, legal and moral practices to publish a series of defamatory and untrue claims as part of a highly politicised witch hunt designed to cancel and de-platform me.

Byline have already come for the likes of the Free Speech Union, the Legatum Institute, GB News and Douglas Murray who received substantial damages for their lies.
I doubt this skidmark on the underpants of Fleet Street is short of a few bob, not to mention that presumably the M*il, News UK and even the KGBN owners would have a vested interested in giving him access to their libel lawyers-on-standby, and even without them I'm sure if he reckons he's a strong case to defend himself with from these allegations, there would be reputable firms out there willing to represent him in such a notable case - maybe at worst he could go to Coutts and ask for a loan? He'd definitely not want representation from those metropolitan luvvie London based firms, though. Surely he'd head out to Essex or somewhere in the "Red Wall" terrority?

Or maybe it's simply a Trump style grift to try and get money out of suckers claiming you need to to defend yourself from "dark forces" because you're in deep shit & know it?

Wootton's been in touch with some "formal preaction". This doesn't look very formal to me. He's denying the most serious allegations.

He is clearly not denying all the allegations, he is just challenging the allegations which involve possible criminality because if he doesn't his employers will have no choice but to suspend him.

I think in the next week or so he will come up with an excuse to return to New Zealand to deal with pressing family matters.

That honestly reads like someone who's talking how they think lawyers talk. I'm sure it probably is from his lawyer, but it comes across really amateur.

Do they have a copy of this illegally filmed sex? That sounds like a massive allegation to make if the only thing they have is one person's word for it.

I wish I were more confident.

Interesting comment by Brian Moore* wondering why Wooton is trying to crowdfund his legal fees:

Re Wooton' s grfiting for legal fees - if you're thinking of donating -
1. He appears to have the requested amount in cash.
2. He reserves the right to keep any unpsent money for 'other' cases, which could be anything.
3. You're a mug

What's he actually crowd funding for? He says "my legal case against Byline so I can keep fighting for you"...

Is he suing them? Because I'd have thought he'd be screaming that from the rooftops if he was. He'd keenly drop the word "suing" in, surely, as that would illicit even more of a response from his supporters. I'm more leaning towards him raising money to try and defend himself from any likely cases brought against him if/when this all turns out to be true.

Also, here's his panhandler round-robin to all his wealthy friends. Turns out they aren't all friends because at least one of the recipients went straight to Byline with it!

It's utterly humiliating. Literally begging.
This has been the worst week of my life, but I have to fight these disgusting smears against me. I wouldn't ask for your help unless I was desperately in need.

If you can please support this crowd funder. It will go entirely on my legal fees to fight Byline Media, which is on the most sick and twisted campaign to push me over the edge.

I know it's a big ask, but please share this on your social media and with many friends as possible. Trust me that this is a campaign to see me cancelled and destroyed – it's chilling. I really do need your help, Please.

I used to report racist accounts by the dozen. I doubt if one in ten were upheld - I don't bother now.

Where would a knuckle dragging thug have come across Aaron Bastani? Best wishes to him after such a nasty experience, hope he reconsiders the company he’s been keeping of late.

More of the Wootton stuff is looking more solid.

I really hope that blackmail tape can be backed up, mind. If it can't, that'll get him off the hook completely.

Third story from Bylines sounds solid cataloguing a sample of Wootton’s carnage. There was a time when the right would have been smart enough to ditch this arsehole instead of circling the wagons.
Today, however, in the third part of a three-year special investigation into Wootton’s private and professional conduct, the victim forced to make the video reveals how ‘Branning’ drove him to the brink of suicide with a 10-year campaign of anonymous coercion.
The partner, a man whose identity Byline Times is protecting – but who says that he will give evidence to the Metropolitan Police – said: “The fall-out from this went on for years. I literally quit my London life; I lost everything. I went into the depths of depression.
“I definitely considered suicide. I didn’t want to be around any more. I blamed myself for the whole situation. I am only coming to terms with it now. Now I want to get it sorted out.” https://bylinetimes.com/2023/07/24/mart ... st-victim/

Is there a record of this coercion? I would think some of it would have been text messages and emails. If so, Wootton, who hasn't denied being Branning, is likely in a lot of shit.
