It's the same old bollocks that anti-tax rightwingers deal in. But there's a progressive spin to it, that refusing to pay taxes is a stand against genocide. With the piece de resistance that spending money instead of paying tax isn't tax evasion, but "putting it into my local community". Write that one on your letter to HMRC when they come after you.

Yep. I'm not particularly keen on Conservation Areas in London (some old houses that exist everywhere else?!) but they are strict, and people pay a premium to live in them. Such people can afford lawyers and will get on the councils back until they fix it.
