Phil Moorhouse still thinks a May election is likely.

Well he did in the latest YG poll, he got it down to errr 19 (and that’s mostly due to them being so low the last week), nothing in Techne seems to be reversing though, they’ve recorded another pt gain for Lab.

It could be fewer, particularly if the there's a change of leader. A lot depends on what happens in the next 72 hours.

Interesting to note this week demonstrated a slight rise in the Lib Dem vote for no real reason the only thing I heard is they had no policies though that’s probably a good thing.

Tactical voting will be higher this time out.

Hunt has announced that his budget is going to be on 6 March, which is a little early, and it has triggered speculation that Sunak might go to the country in early May.

There’s also talk of some big giveaway gestures, or attempted bribes, such as the abolition of inheritance tax (yet again) and a revival of the “help to buy” scheme.

Bring on the spring.

Logically, it has to be spring. They won't risk going to the wire and it's going to be harder for them to GOTV than us. We'll brave storm and tempest whereas the electors they need are likely to see it's raining and stay at home.

How wide is the electorate that is clamoring for inheritance tax cuts? ‘One day I could be a millionaire’ is not even a thing in American politics anymore.
It does help inform voters who the Tories really are.

Emily Maitlis reckons Sunak won't go to the polls before October 24th as his ego won't be happy with less than two years in post. I suspect that the amount of taxpayer's money he can direct his family's way would be a bigger motivator for him. That said, I think it'll be May as the longer he leaves it, the worse the defeat, so his backbenchers will force to go sooner.
