Yes, it does seem like Macron’s tactics have backfired here. Though still doesn’t excuse the hard(er) left throwing in with the far right in the usual hope of random shit somehow bringing about a peaceful hardcore socialist utopia this time, rather than letting in fascist arseholes as has happened every single other time.

I'm more supportive of Macron than some but I think the house are entitled to hold out for a better PM. Plus the Barnier budget would have been a gift to the RN, who are much more focussed on opposing cuts than our equivalents (of course they oppose taxes too, because that's what people like them do).

Macron presented parliament with an aged centrist technocrat with no axe to grind to do the dirty work. Now he's been rejected there's just enough time before the 2027 presendential election for Le Pen and the left to bring on their PMs to click open suitcases full of readies. Or show they're full of shit.

As the day draws to an end with the Pelicot trial being concluded, the enduring ring is that of shame being shifted to where it certainly belongs and definitely where it stems from. Men.

I certainly feel that shame. I can't even find a way in to speak with my partner about the case. Furthermore, I don't feel that I have any valid contribution to make. Moreover, this feeling of helplessness is cemented by a deep-seated belief that nothing will change. Nothing.

Recent surveys revealing the extent of young women and girls who've experienced sexual assault in one form or other is depressing to read let alone experience. Lost the desire to make new friends and subconsciously one of the reasons maybe that it's statistically likely a really shitty human being lurks beneath an affable exterior.

No doing a comedy song about a mass gang rape is not clever it's not satirical, it's not highlighting the situation. It's just awful. Here's what a KC has to say on this subject. Also the reaction on X/Twitter has been one of universal disdain which shows ut's gone down about as well as Liz Truss's budget.

Perhaps you agree with the thoughtful comment on Twitter that they should be ignored because they come from Whitstable?
