So to sum up: doing something was wrong. Doing nothing now is wrong. But saying you'd do nothing at the time (even when, at the time, it would have been utterly disastrous) makes you some sort of peace guru.

Honestly, Jez's solution to the trolley problem would be to organise a protest against non-electric public transport that somehow causes the trolley to run everyone over.

Don't know if the US are getting people out, but the UK seem very unprepared.
They don't seem to be a brilliant job at all. To give some credit Canada will take 20,000.

I know it stands for Foreign Secretary but, when it comes to Raab, "FS" could stand for so many other things as well.....

It's seeing wankers like Osland using this to score points on their opponents which is making my blood boil.

Nobody should underestimate the Taliban. Not only have they twice taken over the government of Afghanistan, they also time travelled back to the 80s, having been formed in 1994.

Hearing reports of three people falling to their deaths whilst clinging to a C-17 transport out of Kabul.
State of the comments ‘crocodile tears’ ‘Blair’s fault’ whataboutery blah blah. I understand Ben Wallace approached the French and Germans about a continued operation but Macron back down. Fair play to Wallace if he did, at least he tried.

The money would have to pass through the Taliban though wouldn't it?

Interesting that these refugees should all appear now when the imperialist warmongers leave.

Saw 3.5 million quoted as the number of refugees returned to Afghanistan when the Taliban fell. Try and find a source. Learning on the job here but what was achieved in the urban areas where most live and keeping the Taliban at bay doesn’t look like a failed mission. Stalemate isn’t failure or a ground war quagmire with no identifiable good outcomes.

Oh lordy Afghanistan is one of those things which suffers from I like to call simple history where history is nice and simple and crucially happens to fit in with their worldview. See Graveyard of empires for another example of this.
