At least the Daily Mail used to make an effort with its excuses, which went rather like:
1. You don't want this extra Bank Holiday that's probably to commemorate a black one legged lesbian.
2. It will be at a completely inconvenient day when you wouldn't normally want a day off.
3. And if everybody's on holiday you'll spend three hours in a traffic jam to get to Saafend.
4. Meanwhile Fritz at the Munich plant will have cranked out 30 extra units, while your job gets listed for closure.
5. it should be on Battle of Britain Day.
6. Or Trafalgar.
5 & 6 are close, but the truth is worse.
Charles Moore (off of te Telegraphs) suggested Margeret Thatcher Day.

Over on Mail Online, in the comments the most pressing concerns are that the tens of millions of Iranians in Britain will now rise up and there'll be a sharp increase in the number of dinghies. Better just to kill 'em all.

You have to ask yourself "what are they disapproving of?" - because I suspect for a lot of Septics, it isn't what you or I would disapprove of.

He's a fucking moron of a child and his enablers will all burn in... old age of slow heart failure sipping their martinis in their palaces.

Probably their friends and neighbours abducted by masked thugs and held without due process.

What were we hearing about Canada standing up to Trump properly, unlike the subservient UK?
The United States will restart trade negotiations with Canada immediately after Canada scrapped its digital services tax targeting US technology firms, White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett has said

After hours of stalemate, Republicans in the US Senate have narrowly passed Donald Trump's mega-bill on tax and spending, meaning the proposed legislation has cleared one of its key hurdles.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed with Vice-President JD Vance casting a tie-breaking vote after more than 24 hours of debate.

Musk's threatening to form a mid term spoiler party if this bill passed. Don't know who he thinks will stand, how many US libertarians choose balanced budgets over tax cuts?

No Republican is going to side with Musk over Trump.

There might be some problems in the House before this is done. The pretty blatant special favors done to Alaska to get Murkowski's vote may not have gone down well with everyone. Congressmen don't have the clout of senators. but might be worth a couple with swing districts trying the same thing.
