Jeremy Corbyn finally reveals name idea for new party

Apparently, Jezza thinks maybe :

- Party of Peace
- Party of Justice
- The People’s Party.

Such imagination !

Also, Jez is banging on the “democracy” drum yet again. This, I have found, is an all-consuming obsession amongst the Corbots - to the point of fetish. When I was still a member of my branch exec (branch sec, in fact), I found that the new EC members from the Corbyn faction would insist on a “democratic” vote on literally everything. They’d want a vote on the colour of shite.

That and 'passing motions' (double entendre fully intended) about things that were both utterly banal and central to Labour beliefs - like a motion supporting the NHS. A boiler-plate thing (>insert name of constituency here< quite literally) to be sent to 'Party HQ'. Why? No sensible answer. Just performative politics.

Super Jeremy, if you please.

Do you think the penny's dropped for Zarah Sultana yet?

Up to a point. For suggesting candidate selection should be extended to a primary to secure a PPC that constituents prefer, I was met with silence by Corbots. A rare moment of self-awareness.

If not, the moment her and Jez disagree on something she’ll find out as his acolytes immediately turn on her.

I'm pondering whether this new party might not do better at the ballot box if she'd gone it alone. I'm not sure and now we'll never know.

The Jez acolytes are 90% of the show. He's not wrong about his personal importance. Who's the next leader? Richard Burgon? Lindsay German? Sultana could have gone with the other "Gaza Independents", but would be hard to hold her seat without a large Muslim electorate. Jez is her best hope.

That'll take on . :|
It works for their German "counterparts".

Yes, we know he has his cult but I was thinking specifically about the wider electorate. Whilst he certainly appeals to some, on balance I think Corbyn is a liability who will repel many more who might have given a Jez-free Left-wing party a chance.

BiB - the problem there is that there is no one in Britain with a similar high enough profile to lead a party that is to the left of Labour that could potentially get enough votes to maybe win seats. Corbyn is both an asset and a liability in this case. If they're into long term planning with a viable successor to him somewhere down the line, they could make a genuine impact on British politics say in the 2030's - but like Reform all of this comes across as a one man ego trip looking at the short term.
