Oh look, he's shown up in Birmingham to support the bin men.

https://www.expressandstar.com/uk-news/ ... n-workers/

The pay claim should be met in full, whatever the consequences, which the council say will be a load more pay claims local councils can't afford because, get this, the Commonwealth Games.

Had he held any power at all, doubtless something would have gone wrong at some point. That would by his logic have required him to meet every pay claim.

10 years old, still spot on. He can’t support anything without making it about him and/or making it so he never has to do anything other than complain.

Thanks for the heads-up, Crabby, that is a very interesting piece.
Is he/she still writing? I follow on Bluesky but I'd never seen this blog.

And can someone translate Twll Dun for me - it seems to be idiomatic and Gooogle translate isn't helpful...

Being Jeremy Corbyn must be the easiest job in politics. Just say "I was right" about everything that's happened and "They're wrong" about anything that's about to happen.

I see social media seem to be full of Corbyn and Sultana bragging that they’ve apparently pulled in 400,000 new “members” of their new as yet un-named party.

It’s the same boast that we heard ad nauseam when Corbyn was leading the Labour Party. I grew weary of telling the bragging Corbots that membership numbers made precisely fuck all difference to what actually matters - getting elected to power and actually getting actual stuff done. And so it proved . Twice.

If the media decide they're bored of Reform and big this party up it might help consolidate Labour's vote with moderate floating voters.

Absolutely.
These are not even members, they're a mailing list. There's also the small matter of there being no party, as yet, to join.

One person, one vote in the biggies. No extra votes for party members.

Also, if your association with a party means 2 people decide that despite the good bits it's not for them, well done. You are of more use to your opponents than you are to your own party.

Perhaps residents of (or adjacent to) Birmingham can correct me here but didn't the unions play a significant party in Birmingham City Council's bankruptcy in the first place?

Looks like the blog seems to have stopped a few years back unfortunately (unless it has moved, but if it has not sure where to).

I've been saying this for years and usually get accused of whataboutery. So glad that someone with Phil's reach is using his platform to call out the hypocrisy.

Getting off to a flying start.

https://bylinetimes.com/2025/08/14/the- ... -underway/
Murphy is clearly irked by what she regards a personal attack by Story, who sourced his information from attendees on a Zoom call among an inner group of prospective organisers.

She told Byline Times: “I explained the data collated from those interested in joining a new political party would not be randomly shared at this time with ‘unknown individuals or groupings’ in geographical areas or in Scotland and Wales.

“This was not a ‘decree’ but a sharing of information, and my intent was clear – encouraging those actually organising in their communities to build events and gatherings without relying on this data to build on the momentum.

“I further added work was continuing to plan and make the best use at [a] local level of the data gathered”.

And she pointed out that, “Your Party is not, as yet, a political party.”

These growing pains reflect a battle for the soul of the new entity. Is it primarily a vehicle to capitalise on Corbyn’s personal popularity, and ensure his continued political influence in Westminster, by creating an alternative version of Labour?

When Your Party was first announced, I confidently predicted that it wouldn't survive until the next election, already it's increasingly looking like it won't survive the year.

I don't think they can go far wrong with "everyone sign up, and choose the policies yourselves". The policies will go wrong, but not the party, sadly.

The leadership are already falling out with each other - I predict splits. Choosing the policies yourselves is just an invitation for splits as everybody picks their favoured single issue an then sub-divide over what the policy should be. I know top-down is a dirty word, but there's a lot to be said for people who know how to get things done.

Whoever thought that a party founded by single-interest protestors and professional contrarians could possibly run into trouble?
