Somehow it had passed me by that he's Jewish, I heard him on the radio today enthusing about "working with" YourParty, I wonder how that would go down with the Corbynistas?

Given that a year later he'd left the party, they probably think they got the decision right.

Not just rubbish but spectacularly inept. The Greens are seeking to raise lots of taxes, so why don't they just say they'd seek to be relatively prudent in terms of borrowing while spending more? This is what you get when your economics is just a series of talking points. It's strikinig how many people on Bluesky think Reeves is doing "austerity".

Meanwhile, I'm in the unlikely position of agreeing with Polanski on the arrest of Linehan. I don't know where the case will go, but an initial arrest seems fair enough.

Miller's not going to cause Polanski too many problems. He'll have to be told to fuck off at some point, and that will be useful to Polanski. The market for "Polanski might say good things about Palestine but he doesn't get the real issue of Jewish tentacles" is going to be very small.

Oh, there's more. Here he's taken a soundbite and run with it. And ending up with dangerous nonsense. Reeves by the way isn't "balancing the books". She's seeking to reduce debt as a percentage of GDP in 5 years time, which allows for a deficit, just smaller than the percentage of growth in the economy.

"Spend and tax" is an MMT way of looking at things, either profound or vacuous depending on your point of view. Either way, there are issues with MMT for poorer people. Restraining inflation is likely to involve a lot of regressive consumption taxes.

Deficit spending and other central bank hocus pocus that all governments practice makes no sense to the average voter. Don't waste your time explaining it.

His audience when he wrote that was a bunch of people who think Rachel Reeves is practicing austerity.

I always smile when I see things like this and imagine Netanyahu thinking, "Great - the new leader of some minor British party doesn't like Hamas. Now we can REALLY bomb the bastards."
