Charlie Kirk didn’t get what he deserved, because no one deserves that sort of horrific death. He did, however, get what he openly thought other people deserved. So his death and the manner of it should be no more than a stark reminder that his aims and goals in life were abhorrent - and that his life and work should in no way celebrated or sanitised simply because of the manner of its ending. And those such as Johnson who stood up and applauded what he said others should be subject to, but are horrified by his killing, are at absolute best hypocrites of the most obnoxious nature.

My sympathy extends no further than to his family.

Quite. It is possible to condemn political assassination and express condolences to the bereaved without endorsing the views and statements of the victim.

Quick browse of r/Conservative (on that there Reddit, m'lud) and it's really, really hard not to feel like you're watching a bunch of absolute hypocrites.

Well, that's normally what one feels. But I've seen many posts bemoaning the loss of someone they admired (fine, until we read the above), and thinking how awful this must be for the family (of course, terrible), from the same voices that say not a fucking word about school shootings other than 'shame, prayers, next' or one iota about any Republican violence (because, of course, this is already pegged as 'the Left', and probably even Trans [they're utterly convinced/utterly cynically don't give a shit and use this idea, that trans people are not only morally degenerate, but also incredibly violent. They repeatedly seed this idea based on a tiny minority of cases, over and over again], and thus it's totally understood before any solid information other than a shooting and its immediate violent result is received).

January 6th was a tourist day out, Sandy Hook was 'oh well', this is a gargantuan tragedy. Etc.

One can be sure of this because r/conservative is one of the most heavily moderated, 'on message' sub-Reddits I've ever seen. The rugged individualist free speech champions are so utterly fucking terrified of alternative thought they regularly cull hundreds of comments and threads with abandon.
