If the "Establishment" really was out to get the FFC he'd have had a genuinely believable fatal accident by now.

Currently camping at the coast to escape the heat. Usually I avoid the news but every day this week is such a joy I can't resist.

Sadly it’s the people of Clacton who are voting.

When Farage resigned he hoped that the subsequent by-election would involve all the major parties so that he could sling mud at them trying to paint a picture that all politicians have broken the rules at some point. Now that the other parties have refused to play ball the by-election is going to be about Farage and his finances.

Whilst he should win the by-election easily 6 weeks of close scrutiny is probably going to damage him in the long-term especially if he has to go through all this again in 6 months time.

It would seem Tan Smith has made a video about this:

(I burst out laughing at Burnham being called "The Milk Tray Manc" )

Especially when he his opposition is a comedy act with a bin on his head. Who ironically does seem to speak more sense.

At least to my knowledge he didn’t hiss at his Jewish class mates in relation to the gas chambers. Which I assume he did because his supposed legal action never happened like every other legal action he has threatened like the good little fascist he is.

I think this is going to be a by election where a win is only a benefit for Farage if he walks away with a strongly increased majority. And given there’s no vote split and a single “not Farage” protest candidate to rally round, a media more hostile to him that he’s used to, and the fact his stunt and his shitty performance as a local MP (local if you live in Washington DC, maybe) have pissed off some of his own supporters, that’s unlikely. He clearly desperately wanted a Burnham-style endorsement, but that’s not happening.

I reckon his very best case realistic scenario now is a win where he does well and Binface loses his deposit. Because any Binface performance above and beyond that will be framed as “he can’t even take out the bins” etc for evermore.

If the numbers get even remotely interesting though - and I’d count anything north of 1000 votes for Binface in this category - then it’s rapidly sliding into days are numbered territory for Farage because he’ll be so obviously weakened even before any inquiry. And if Binface can get into 5 digits (unlikely, but this is a “Boaty McBoatface” scenario and the British Public do love to serve up a “fuck you” to people who expect them to all behave a certain way), he’ll be destroyed even if he wins by double or triple the amount.

This probably wouldn’t be good enough for him…

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Halt ... y-election

It’s damaging regardless because not only did Burnham win in Makerfield he increased his majority and outperformed the 2024 result on a higher turnout

Majority will go up but it’s all he has

What I’m hoping for - and what has a decent chance of happening - is that he snaps at some sort of hustings or interview type event when Binface jokes about him in some way. We all know he is incredibly thin skinned, already annoyed he didn’t get what he wanted, and under stress from potentially having his collar felt.

It’s one of those unwritten rules that a certain portion of the British public will happily support a person who everyone knows is a racist, nasty piece of shit right up until the point they accidentally say something racist out loud, or swear a bit too much.

It’s like they don’t mind as long as they can continue to pretend they’re decent. But as soon as the mask slips they walk away because they don’t want reminding that actually they’re not decent, and nor is the (now exposed) bigot they previously made excuses for.

He's already said he won't appear with Binface - he knows the vote's in the bag anyway.

If it was that in the bag, he wouldn't have anything to worry about by being a good sport and showing up.

Frit.

Doesn’t have to be in person. Nige may be about to discover that the press really enjoy repeating gags where you’re the punchline back to you to get your reaction. Especially when they know you can’t take a joke.

He’s used to being courted for his ability to get views because he winds people up. What he’s forgotten is he’s just as useful if he’s the one getting wound up as long as it still gets the views.
