It's a framework for people like Murphy to be able to call for more spending and avoiding "how will you pay for this?" and chucking back a "you don't understand how government pays for stuff" back at people who do ask that sensible question.
It's OK when inflation is very low for stimulus, but it's no way to pay for eg the government's unfunded NHS modernisation plan, for example. which is a lot of money, every year.
What inflation would be if Murphy had been in charge, God knows. At which point Murphy says "I never send tax rises weren't needed". Well, he doesn't exactly say much about that, because when you do the attractiveness of something for nothing disappears rather rapidly.
Poor Jon Portes, pretty much as far away from an amoral counting machine as you can get, has this stuff chucked at him all the time.

This from BTL Is where you basically get with this stuff.

I know I'm going about this stuff, but there's a Murph fan BTL. Doubtless he and Murph laughed at Liz Truss, but what's the difference between this stuff and "tax cuts pay for themselves"?

All right, how much have we bunged them for this?

Owner of Jaguar Land Rover to announce Somerset battery gigafactory
The expected plant, which will be built by Tata Group and have significant public investment, may create thousands of jobs
Did we ever get told the price of Nissan?

As Sam Freedman observes, announcing this the day before a by-election in Somerset may have up the price a bit. I can't imagine it'll affect the result at all.
In other news, Ben Wallace says rumours of reshuffle in the next few days. That, if it happens, may suggest less than total confidence in the by-elections. I would expect Greg Hands to be demoted, though perhaps Sunak thinks he's doing brilliantly.

Half a billion and don’t be surprised if it’s never built beyond a sub assembly facility. At that price the government should have insisted on a stake.

This isn't much worse than the current frontbench, to be fair. John's part pub bore, part obvious fossil fuel lobbyist.
I wasn't aware that anyone was demanding gas boilers be chucked out now. Just that if you were replacing your boiler, consider a heat pump.

Reading his posts over a year or so I think he is actually unwell. I hesitate to ascribe old-age looniness to dementia, but it looks like that.

All that needs is a footnote saying "I am very intelligent"

I do hope the voters of Frome aren't planning on seeing any benefits from the battery factory. It is a long way from either the M4 or M5.
A Somerset location would ensure relatively good transport links to Jaguar Land Rover’s car factories, which are concentrated in the Midlands.

No wonder Tata shook Sunak down for half a billion plus if he falls for a cheap huckster like Farage.

The actual Prime Minister.
Senior politicians (and that fat prick, Frost) in a coordinated show of support for a fascist. Last night, they were full-throated for a rapist off the telly.
This should come as no surprise.

Yeah. And very short sighted. People supportive are saying "what are you going to do about it?" What on earth would legislation look like?

I see that Stupidly is in on the action, too. (Clearly, he has no idea what Farage and his ilk would do to people like him if they had half a chance.)

Miriam Cates rant about universities turning out lefties made me wonder if the Tories have thought about stop insulting and start wooing a growing demographic. Quite happy they’re not.

I can't think of anything that Cleverly is better than.
Fox turds, perhaps, but it's close.
