Ex-priest found guilty of 17 indecent assaults

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c20662dxl88o
A former priest accused of abusing members of a church group he led has been found guilty of 17 counts of indecent assault against nine women.

Chris Brain, 68, was head of the Nine O'Clock Service (NOS), an influential evangelical movement based in Sheffield in the 1980s and 90s.

Brain, of Wilmslow, in Cheshire, was convicted of the charges following a trial at Inner London Crown Court.

He was found not guilty of another 15 charges of indecent assault, while jurors are continuing to deliberate on a further four counts of indecent assault and one charge of rape.

Where's da "concerned parents" now?

I'm doing shields on Vikings, medievals and Celts. I've got some decal inkjet paper, I think I'll give it a go.

Killer Whale wrote: Wed Aug 20, 2025 3:38 pm It is weird, though, that the St George's flag was largely reclaimed from the far right around the time of Euro 96 when I was living in Sarff Lunnun. My black friends in particular were fond of it since it didn't have the empire overtones of the Union Jack. I really don't know where all that went, but it appears to slowly have regressed into being once more a far right symbol.
You beat me to it. The Union flag had been hijacked by the fash so the St George's was a symbol of unity and hope. Sadly it's the other way round now, because nothing beats proclaiming love of your country so much as scrawling the name of a flat roof pub and a football team across its national flag. As an aside, why do flag wavers always look so bloody angry?

On my drive home tonight I listened to AntiSocial on Radio 4, on the subject of asylum hotels.

If you choose to listen to it - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002h09g - I'd advise you not to listen to it on anything you value, as you may end up throwing your listening device against a hard surface.

Apparently the flag shaggers have a movement name; Operation Raise the Colours.

I wonder what the reaction from these people would have been if, say, the Mirror had launched a flag-waving campaign.

A typical British response would be to ignore the flags until their attention span shifts.

Meanwhile have a couple of spooks to look into the organisers and their other activities.
All a bit 1984, I know, but:
a) You might find something far more sinister being planned, whether treason or kiddy fiddling.
b) Much of modern intelligence involves following the money and finding out who is funding this stuff.
c) The most effective counter to the far right is to drive a wedge between their full time activists and the well-meaning concerned chumps who'll turn up and enter the radicalisation funnel.

Paint on the road is a different matter, a potential cost and hazard.
Even Reform politicians have come out against this.

A firmly worded statement from all political leaders would be the ideal step here.
But we can count on Farage weaseling out, and Badenoch talking incoherent shit and Jenrick (The real Tory leader)maintaining an opportunistic silence.

Investigating who's behind it all might uncover what we all suspect, but there's the risk that it might be a few Reform candidates and that'll boost them even more.

The nice thing about undercover work is that you don't need to report your findings in a press conference.

But at least you're aware if there are sinister forrin influences.
As a bonus you might discover a few Kilos of marching powder arriving in those bulk flag imports.

That's nice, but I hope the national intelligence service is also on it.

It might be the fash on the streets organising it but I wouldn't be in the slightest bit surprised to see Reform or (especially) Reichstag Rupert involved in the background.

I certainly expect their "magic money tree" is assisting with the funding.

This represents something of a dream situation for the genuine Fash.
Combine their "will" with Reform's resources.
They'd be balls deep in hookers and blow for ever.

It would seem that, according to The Guardian, that one of the groups organising the hotel 'protests' is none other than the bastards who stood local election candidates near me; the Homeland Party.
