Patrick Christy seems to have inherited the Dan Wootton slot on GB News. At 9pm after a day of high drama in Downing Street his panel of guest include Edwina Curry, Andrea Jenkyns and Kwasi Kwarteng. The barrel is well and truly being scraped.

The Brexit leaning television channels are losing heir shit over the reshuffle.
The presenters are losing their shit.
The invited guests are losing their shit.
But for all of it, they're still full of shit.
Scrolling through the fury, there’s no original objective insight to give food for thought. James OB could have done the same but took calls from people with some interesting thoughts as to why Sunak’s Cameron appointment was a good move. And they didn’t even sound like Tory voters.

i don't watch it, obviously, but do they have anyone on who puts the opposite view sometimes? Even Fox News had a couple of sane anchors, and Sean Hannity shared his show with Alan Comes for a long time, albeit as something less than an equal. Fox knew its business, so I expect the audience would have been OK with a bit of it.

I think some bods from Novara media go on there, but I think it's primarily because they've got a common enemy in Starmer. It's overwhelmingly a talking shop for Tory MP's, right-wing commentators, and bitter personalities from the 70s ad 80s who can't get on telly anymore.

30p has a feature on his show called "Leftie in the corner", where a token left winger is invited on, and either roundly mocked or studiously ignored. Tends to get the sort of person who wants any sort of media exposure, real wank for coins specialists. You know, Cable, Opik, folk like that.
I don't even find it annoying. More like "fuck's sake, do you have any dignity left?".

Thanks for watching it so I don't have to, Dalem and Andy.
That confirms my impression. Maybe they do know their audience, I dunno. Certainly the tweeters among them didn't like Michael Crick wresting control away from Neil Oliver. Reminded me of a famous Fox News sequence where Bill O'Reilly was thrown off his stride by the son of a man killed in 9/11 who didn't support bombing Afghanistan. O'Reilly even started his next episode by slagging off the bloke as an ungrateful guest, IIRC. Maybe that's the right bit of Fox to study, not the bit where Alan Comes meekly contradicts Hannity, or where Chris Wallace puts some proper questions to a Republican.

Whether it's Tommy Ten-Names or Neil Fox, the one thing that lot all have in common is that they certainly do know their audience, and how much they'll pay to be part of it.

Has Arron Bastani taking up the offer? Cable and Opik are even relegated to the corner table at Lib Dem conferences. From what I’ve heard of Lemit Opik lately he’s fallen down a conspiracy loon rabbit hole. Pity as he was doing well as an engaging mid morning presenter on BBC Kent.

They've started charging for membership. Advertising clearly not going too well.

Given that so much of their prevalence in the public mind is down to "secondary viewing" via social media sharing, it does appear they've aimed extremely carefully and shot that pesky foot right off

Sounds like a sinister cult. Peter Andre’s not the brightest button, does he know what he’s letting himself in for?
Andre said the feedback from the initial shows had been “wonderfully kind” and he could not wait to join the “GB News family”

Is Peter Andre the only broadcaster who isn't a sex pest who is prepared for GBNews?

I didn't realise until today that the Editorial Director of GB News is Michael Booker who used to work at the Daily Express. This goes along way to explain why the channel is obsessed with immigration and Harry and Meghan.

Is it possible to do TV as cheaply as the Express does newspapers? I'd guess not. Then again, GB News doesn't really need to cover costs, does it?
