I've stood in a 2 hour airport queue well before any of this MAGA bullshit kicked off.
It wasn't a welcome then, and I doubt it has improved.

First time I went to Australia, the first question at Customs after being asked to hand over my passport was "when are you leaving?". I hesitated to say "not soon enough, pal."

I suspect a less than a warm welcome for everyone visiting the USA for next summer's world cup. Republicans hate 'sacca'.

The last few times I've visited, the welcome level at passport control has varied depending on location.
Touristy places like Orlando and Las Vegas were firm but friendly.
Not so much the case with NYC and Washington DC, which provided more of a "justify your existence" grilling.

That was a while back, and things may have changed since then, mind.

I found Washington very unfriendly.
