All that said…I’ll give Sunak credit for this: if you wanted a way to ensure all the attention was sucked away from Braverman’s sacking - this Cameron move 100% did it.

Few will have noticed the government has stopped picking fights with Paris, Brussels, Dublin, Berlin etc. They don’t even have the leverage to boss Gibraltar around to get with the Brexit programme.

Bit big. Maybe Sealand, so we have a fighting chance?

Are you sure we can spare the boats?

We'd get some decent wine out of it.

Being ruled by the Duchess Gloriana. Hmmm.

With Fa**ge also reportedly already out in Oz prepping for his IACGMOOH stint, other than still having his Xitter account he's also well away from stirring shit in the short term too.

Braverman’s fan club haven’t noticed she’s gone. And they won’t appreciate Cameron.

But whats Rishi's plan?
Its in his gift when the next GE is called, he has no ability/interest in leading the country and he wouldn't want to be around for the resultant kicking. He's waiting for the right time to play his hand that holds the green card. He's just maximising what the family and his mates can get out of the finances of the country.
So what does he do;
as said he won't want to be around for next GE, but not a good look if the PM says he's standing down as an MP just before a GE
another problem, if he holds on he most likely to win his seat (Tory since 1910, majority at last GE 27k+) who wants a by-election straight after a GE
Is he just going to cause chaos and walk away

ERG types are going to be blowing a gasket. Moving to the right didn’t work 20 years ago and the Red Wall’s a lost cause. What’s Sunak got to lose on his last dice throw by rushing back to the centre right? People who intend to stay in the party Ionger than Sunak want to inherit it in reasonable shape after the election. Why not start moving in on the headbangers now?

Argentina has run off presidential election next weekend, including the candidacy of a right wing nutter.

Just a thought.

Who else is there to do a Cameron really? Lots of the candidates were booted out by Bozo.

Jesse Norman, who would have got his head down in a cabinet job, has resigned as a minister. I wonder if he thinks his seat is in danger. Polls suggest it could well be. Even though it's the more urban of the county seats (ie it's got Hereford and Ross in it). that's pretty remarkable.

There's a debate this week on Gaza, isn't there?

This is right. It's indeed untenable.

If he stands down, or announces his intention to do so, he's as good as throwing the election. "Why should we vote for you when your own leader can't be bothered to defend their record?" isn't the sort of thing candidates want to be asked on every doorstep, in every interview.

How was Lord David Frost handled when he was Minister for Brexit?

Westminster Hall.

Although The Guardian reports that the parliamentary authorities are trying to find a way to bring Cameron into the HoC for questioning that won't break protocol.

Oh Christ.
Esther McVey, the former work and pensions secretary, has arrived at Downing Street, PA Media reports.

It's 2023. Do we have to still cleave to a tradition born in a fever-dream of a past - the late Middle Ages which was never relevant?

Get the bastard into the HoC and question him, from the bar if you want.

Man's a cunt anyway.

In times gone by, it would have been suggested that an MP in a very safe true blue seat would have stood down and have Cameron parachuted in their place through a by-election, but I'd assume the nominal risk in doing that now is that if Sunak tried to do this and it backfired with the seat turning red or yellow, it would almost certainly be the end of the current government - even allowing for their own record-setting brazenness, even they surely couldn't attempt to carry on with any effective authority if that happened, which it why I don't see that happening.

So, either Westminster Hall or a COVID-19 style situation where Cameron answers questions with his mug on screens either hanging from the ceiling of the Commons or the sides of the public gallery?
