This seems totally bizarre to me. The first thing Sunak has done right since becoming PM is to (finally) sack a universally-hated figure. This could have earned him some much-needed Brownie points from those who are not totally insane - ie the majority of people in this country. Instead, he diverts attention away from this Good Thing by publicly reintroducing another universally-hated figure whom the majority of people were hoping had left British politics for good.

The thing is had he not reappointed her in the first place a year ago none of this would have happened. he made a pact with the devil to win the prize and she has turned against him. Even if she doesnt have much backing from other MPs she will snipe from the sidelines at any and every opportunity.

To Malcolm's now-standard comment I can only add... and a weapons-grade fool, too.

Indeed. Desperate stuff.

So he’s going to agree a new arrangement with Rwanda, is he ? Is Rwanda somehow going to become a safe country ?

Maybe they’re going to send Braverman there.

Haven't they suffered enough with the massacres and civil war?

Sweet suffering Jeebus, he's gone full fash.

And again, according to this afternoon's polling, he's speaking to his Taliban base, not the electorate.

Rishi’s triangulating, with a triangle made from shit left over from Suella’s grid.

Bringing in legislation to make Rawanda “safe”, what the fuck does that mean.
Next up Cameron will be telling Palestinians that Israel is safe.

Hardly going to bring back the young Home Counties folk back, is it? Ed Davey must be laughing his arse off.

How the feck does he think that he would rush "emergency" legislation like this through the Lords?

Man's a twat.

He can't control his own party. If he falls back on ennobling enough wankers overnight to stuff the lords, he'll have blown any credibility he may have had left.

This is just "I'm gonna get my dad on you" tantrum shit.

His tough talk is all about staving off any vote of no confidence rather than doing anything constructive.

Earlier he was claiming that he had cut the number of boats coming to Britain by a third. Does that mean he has cut asylum seekers by a third or are they now just using bigger boats or squeezing more people onto fewer boats?

Getting held up in the Lords buys him more time.

Plays well into the unelected meddlers narrative.

Presumably if asylum seekers all went to using lorries, he'd call it a win.

So, if I've understood this correctly, Sunak is basically saying that even though the Supreme Court has ruled it black, he’s going to legislate to say that it’s actually white ?

I mean, WTF ?

One major problem for Sunak plus fellow travellers is that any notion of the UK leaving the ECHR would essentially mean that the Good Friday Agreement would be dead - and the Yanks would come down like a ton of bricks if there was any real suggestion of that happening.

Fancy if life was so easy.
Simply passing a law to declare dangerous things safe.

You'd think they'd begin using it on something useful - like solving the RAAC crisis in public buildings.
Maybe save a few billions on nuclear waste handling - just declare it safe and tip it in a river.

Sunak knows that words cannot adjust he danger associated with a place or material.
What he's doing, is going full Orwell.
“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears.
It was their final, most essential command.”
