My goodness. This is both fascinating and completely ridiculous at one and the same time. Corbyn simply cannot “launch” his own version of a “public enquiry”. Only government can do that. This is at best disingenuous and at worst dishonest news reporting.

Mr Corbyn will be the leading figure behind the Chilcot-style inquiry, which will scrutinise the government’s political, diplomatic, and military entanglements with Israel since the escalation of violence in Gaza.

Quelle surprise. In other words, it’s just something that Corbyn could perfectly well have achieved as a member of parliament in the House of Commons. It’s Corbyn’s agenda entirely. A completely fatuous publicity stunt.
