No one is standing anyone - not even Restore.

Spectacular backfire.

Come on, Binface. It would be the most spectacular and most deserved downfall imaginable.

Isn't Frinton the place that wants to live in the 1950s?
Memmzy Ozy, a barber in Frinton, said: "He's alright, you know. I trust Nigel. Hopefully he'll be the winner."
That's one vote in the bag for the Leopard Face Eating Party.

Would he have to renounce his title if he is elected to the Commons?

Maybe we should be more cultured and refer to Farage as The Ranine One instead.

The Tories, the Lib Dems, and Restore have all said they won’t be standing by-election candidates in Clacton. Labour’s NEC is meeting this evening and is bound to decide to follow suit. Looks like Fargle’s stunt is going to backfire spectacularly on him. I feel this is without doubt the right thing to do.

Dare to dream. Poor Nige's cunning plan is falling apart quicker than a leper in a wind tunnel. "Its me or Binface," wasn't what Nige planned.

Yup I agree. Don’t bother attempting to legitimise it. Wouldn’t win anyhow.

Play tik tok politics with Tik tok politics and let Count Binface have a clean run.

As for Reform paying for the by election… yeah that’s a way to stop accusations of corruption.

I would have like to see Martin Bell don his white suit for one last rodeo.

Is he even still alive?

He is 87 which is probably quite young in Clacton.

Right. So, Farage’s stunt backfires and is exposed as the desperate waste of time it is.

He stands against Binface (because Binface just always stands in by-elections), and is returned, discredited, to parliament.

The parliamentary standards committee resumes its investigation, and there is then a second Clacton by-election, which other candidates this time will contest. I suppose there is an outside chance that Carol Vorderman might be persuaded to be the Martin Bell de nos jours, with the non-Reform candidates giving her a clear run. But more probably, it’ll be a normal by-election. But either way, I think it is highly probable that Makerfield-style tactical voting will bring about the end of Farage’s parliamentary career.

I suspect Farage didn’t have himself vs Count Binface in mind when he framed this election as people vs establishment :D
