I know that the Reform candidate in Makerfield contested the seat at the last election but he probably received minimal scrutiny at the General Election because nobody thought he had a really chance of winning. Fighting a by-election is very different to fighting a General election because you are under the microscope for 6 weeks so any skeletons in your closet are bound to be discovered.
The more people got to know him his polling seemed to get worse.

I'd forgotten about him. Maybe?
Nah.

The sort of people who vote for him wouldn't believe that, even if you showed them the proof.

I think we can see by now that the Reform candidate is obviously a worthless, dipshit moron, whom you’d have to be batshit crazy and/or as thick as mince to vote for as your MP. Oh, wait ……..

Lancashire libraries have been pulled out of the completely free Libraries of Sanctuary accreditation for refugees.

Essex libraries have been told not to promote/celebrate Pride.

Populists always do this stuff. See George Galloway claiming he'd brought back maternity services to Rochdale.

Good luck with that. Libraries cost money to run, and while I'm (obviously) supportive of them in general, I'd be interested to know why it closed and what other provision there is locally.

He could go for the volunteer run option though. Launch in a big burst of noise, then close down after a few months due to lack of willing staff, and interested locals.

If he gets in and anything happens at all (which I doubt), I expect that'll be it.

The library is operating at a temporary site. So if it reopens, it should stay open. Money for the refurbishment was confirmed by Josh Simons before he resigned.

Is it?! I just thought that was very clever satire. As is the rest of it.

Rephrasing traffic lights is a lift from Bozo Johnson, 2008. I didn't notice much different afterwards. I wonder what actually happened.
