Me too. I've not heard him for years, but I remember him from the News Quiz about 20 years ago, I thought he was an improved version of the kind of posh Tory twat Harry Enfield used to do.

Farage declined the offer because he considered the protection to be inadequate.

What does the FFC want? His own private militia? Surely that five million quid would have got him the level of protection he feels he deserves?

Read elsewhere; he doesn't want an official protection detail, because then the "Establishment" will know all his visits and meetings.

They can be discreet. Ask Mountbatten-Windsor's former minders.

Of course the real reason Farage turned down the offered protection is that protection is from serving police officers and the last thing Farage wants is nosey cops knowing where he goes and who he meets there.
Much better to have lads on the payroll that he can order about and who know how to keep their traps shut.

There's certainly an element of "Parties should get their own militia".

Farage would get the same protection as other MPs if:
1: He actually attended the well policed house of commons.
2: He was an MP - oh!

If one good thing comes out of this sad episode, it's that normal(ish) people who might have been tempted to "give him a chance" will have seen Farage for the grasping, opportunistic and dangerous cunt the rest of us worked out long ago.
