I think the Truss in America thing is being deliberately ignored by Sunak and his advisors, who are, I imagine, hoping it’ll just go away.
That might well be a tactical mistake, though. It may be too late now for Sunak to try to portray himself as the “hammer of the extremists” and get publicly tough on Truss in almost exactly the way that Starmer acted to neutralise an embarrassingly toxic former leader - Corbyn - by establishing that he would never stand for election as a Labour candidate again, but I rather think that he should. But of course, he is so shit that he probably won’t.
On Wednesday.
Does the Prime Minister agree with his predecessor's friends that "it's time to destroy democracy and finish the job started on January 6th".
And how does he feel about plots to violently overthrow the elected government of a friend and ally.

Six bob is another example of how the Tories bring in people from outside their usual demographic to say how inclusive they are, then dump them once they've outlived their usefulness. See also Thatcher, May, Warwick, Patel, Javid. Braverman was removed from the cabinet and she'll eventually go entirely.
A phrase I've learned from the Americans - "Tokens get spent".
I did, of course mean Warsi.

Heart broken by that correction.

Rishi Sunak has warned of the dangers of polarisation and hatred in politics, after a fractious week in Westminster.
He was speaking after Tory MP Lee Anderson was suspended from his party for refusing to apologise for saying "Islamists" have "got control" of the Mayor of London.
The prime minister did not directly address the remarks, but talked about protests and the safety of MPs...

And who's the bunch of cunts who have actively worked to create this situation of divisiveness and hatred?
Labour's Sir Keir Starmer called for Mr Sunak to "get a grip" of his party.
That's right, Ricky. You. You and your disgusting bunch of wannabe fascist, avaricious, venal, racist, lying cunts.

Therese Coffey with Laura K noting the amount of hate and division MPs now face. No self-reflection as to Tory agendas in the past eight years in meeting ‘legitimate concerns.’
If Coffey wants to join Soubry and Warsi in calling out the sewer the Tories have become, good luck to her. But she’s not and won’t.

It's pretty clear how this election's going to play out now.
American levels of race baiting, with the wrong type of brown people filling in for blacks.
Questions met with non-answer tangents about woke, trans, grooming your kids and chicks with dicks.
Other desperate stuff dialled up to eleven.
Fortunately for Labour they have a steady analytical leader.
Labour can win by focusing on their programme (once unveiled) and the current government's failure.
Should they feel the need to throw a shot or two below the belt, he's up do doing it in a sober factual manner.
My only concern is how the leadership herds a parliamentary party of 480 MPs afterwards.
With that many, you're sure to get a few oddities and wrong-uns.

"I am no more responsible for the views of my predecessor than the honourable gentleman is for those of the member for Islington North; and while I was never a member of my predecessor's cabinet, the same cannot be said by him!"

At least that would kill all the 'You supported Corbyn' lines at PMQs.

Q2: If so, Why does the former Prime Minster continue to enjoy the privilege of the party whip.

Lee Neanderson - "London is controlled by Islamists" - whip withdrawn,
Sweller Braverman - "Britain is controlled by Islamists" - sod all response...

I think Anderson was worse because he picked out an individual for no reason other than he was a Muslim, when the criticism is usually that he’s “woke”. And an individual who gets death threats all the time.
Braverman being more general actually makes it less bad- she’s accusing her own government, for all the sense that makes. But she should still be suspended.

This is a good point. He's also likely to have Farage and Tice running amok on the fringes, at the invitation of Conservative members.

PMQs today was mostly Sunak and Starmer hurling insults at each other across the table. Not great, but Sunak increasingly being exposed as utterly clueless.

Take it this is a green light from cautious Keir to label the Tories a party of cranks and wrong ‘uns.

Needs an “emergency” statement in Downing St; wonder what’s coming next
PM Rishi Sunak has just finished making a hastily-arranged speech outside No 10
He said democracy is being targeted by extremists, and there are forces that are "trying to tear us apart"

What's a "framework"? There are already laws- on protest they just passed a load more. There are already laws about inciting violence and hatred.

Outlawing gatherings of more than two people, dispensing with the burdensome and expensive judicial system, and keeping the population safe by suspending elections "just for the foreseeable future".
Hand up; who puts it past these fuckers.

He is still pushing the line that Britain having an Asian prime minister being a sign of what a tolerant nation we are. A pretty weak argument given that he has never personally won a general election as leader and that when the Tory membership voted he lost out to the utterly woeful Liz Truss.
