What are the consequences if Trump ignores the ruling, the Dems in Congress write strongly worded op-eds in the Washington Post?
Would the people who get charged them not be able to just tell the Customs to fuck off? Or does the stuff just get physically prevented from leaving ports until they pay?
From what I have read in American model railway subs* on reddit it's much like customs duty - the goods won't be released from the port of entry until the tariff is paid. Many Yanks were under the impression that the supplier would pay the tariff. They were not happy when they found out how tariffs work.
*Rails of Sheffield apparently does quite a lot of trans-Atlantic trade. Yank modellers love British steam.

I'm surprised as they're HO kiddies and we're OO, but then and again the HRCA has a lot of members in USAnia... and here's me, who's just bought a rather lovely Jouef SNCF 141R to go with his "HOrnby-acHO" SNCF carriages...

I see Supreme Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh has come out batting for Trump. I'm guessing that right wing rapists (allegedly) have to stick together.

Trump's up to 15% tariffs now. This is of course a well-worked out response, not somebody flailing around looking for the flimsiest justification.

I was surprised Kavanaugh voted with Trump on this. Seemed like such an obvious nonsense, and Kavanaugh himself has actually been the Trump appointee most likely to vote against Trump when it matters (ie when Trump loses 5-4).

Thomas and Alito are of course the worst of the lot.

Trump curious why Iran has not 'capitulated', US envoy Witkoff says
Probably because they're not scared of you.
In his interview with Fox News, Witkoff said: "I don't want to use the word 'frustrated'... because he [Trump] understands he's got plenty of alternatives, but he's curious as to why they haven't... I don't want to use the word 'capitulated', but why they haven't capitulated."
"Why, under this sort of pressure, with the amount of sea power and naval power that we have over there, why haven't they come to us and said, 'We profess that we don't want a weapon, so here's what we're prepared to do?'"

What is it with Yanks and incoherency?
"...the amount of sea power and naval power..."
Aren't these just two different ways of saying the same thing?
Fucking idiot.

The US Women’s Hockey team has declined Trump’s backhanded invitation to attend the State of the Union after he was caught joking with the Men’s team that he’d be impeached if he didn’t invite them.
Both teams had an unbelievable run at the Olympics.
After weathering the storm against a stacked Canadian team, toothless and bloodied Jack Hughes pulled it out for the U.S in overtime to score an incredible game winning goal. The Men’s team finally broke the 46-year long drought to win gold, the first time the team has managed to do it since the 1980 “Miracle” team beat Russia.
The Women’s team took home gold for the third time. They have medaled every single year for the last 20 years. They don’t need a visit to the Chuckle Hut to sit through a meandering State of the Union for validation. The women are good.

I like this.
It's good to see some of America's genuine talent declining to bend the knee.
Zuckerberg, Bezos look like beta cucks (whatever that might be) in comparison.

Just 32% of Americans believe Trump has the right priorities, CNN poll finds
A new CNN poll shows Trump’s approval falling ahead of his State of the Union address.
The poll, conducted by polling firm SSRS, showed his approval among independents at a new low among CNN’s polls, at 26%, the outlet reported.
Among the findings: only 32% of Americans believe Trump has the right priorities, his job approval rating among all adults was 36%, and 61% said his policies are moving the country in the wrong direction.
The outlet noted a steep drop in approval among Latino Americans, at a 19-point drop, and Americans under age 45, with an 18-point drop.
That's really not very good.

Do any of these chumps possess the self-reflection to wonder how they got fooled in the first place?
The loss of trust and soft power for the USA will be a permanent thing.
I'm not claiming this as an original thought.
One American President has shown willing to rat on alliances, agreements and accords, and regularly change the terms of agreed deals.
Few will trust the country's word after that.
Not because every President will be a similar weasel - it only takes one.
But because it happened once, and the "checks and balances" that underwrite the nations promises have visibly failed.

How the actual shuddering fuck do 22% of Black American men still support Trump?

Because they think he's targeting the Latinos and, as long as he's busy with the Latinos, he's not picking on them.
I'm guessing they've never heard of Martin Niemöller.

Aren’t there a lot of black cops? Like the Irish in the early 20th century it’s a narrow avenue of social advancement that has opened up in recent decades.

This, I wouldn't so mind if they hadn't demostrated his inablity to be president before, though it now seems the only reason his first term was in anyway positive was because the people who surrounded him weren't all lacking one brain between them.

"Doctor" Oz, a talk show regular given a senior role in the US health department, has announced a 6 month ban on state medical facilities issuing "durable medical equipment". Crutches, wheelchairs, prosthetics and so on. You want 'em? Go and buy 'em.
Aside from the obvious classist and eugenicist nature of this, it may not be very wise. As one commentator put it, "great news for the guys lining up for Iran".
