A Reform councillor who resigned just days after being appointed Staffordshire group leader is being investigated over racism allegations.

Confidential emails, seen by the BBC, show Staffordshire County Council has referred at least one complaint, over claims councillor Chris Large, who was a cabinet member, wrote or endorsed racist comments on his TikTok account.

An Independent Investigating Officer is conducting a "further investigation", because of the "complexity of the matter and the serious nature" of allegations made, the council said...

It's not about private companies, what he really means is no more home working for public sector workers. Those with a Reform mindset despise all public sector workers personally, considering every single one of them a bone idle leech on society. I'm surprised he was't a little clearer on this.

To save money (or rather not go further in debt), the public sector has stopped renting office space as working from home on rotation negates the need. Where does he envisage the money to come from to rent it back again? I'm sure he'll find it, because it will be his commercial property owning mates like Tice whose bank accounts it will be going into.

A few office buildings are leasing out rooms as and when needed (for instance, for interviews or for meeting guests from out of town). Company arrives, puts up their logo, does their thing, packs up.

Seems to be a perfect example of the invisible hand at work. Circumstances change, people adapt.

Isn't that what these short-term office space hires do, e.g. Regus?

I was expecting vacant space in the capital to be much higher.

As of late 2025, over 20 million square feet of office space is estimated to be empty across Central London, representing a vacancy rate of roughly 7.8% to over 10% depending on the source. While prime, sustainable office space remains in high demand, a "flight to quality" has left a surplus of older, secondary buildings, particularly in the City and West End, resulting in a 50% increase in vacant space since 2019.

It would be interesting to note the figures prior. We went to some odd space in Canary Wharf for a Advice UK conference and the thing seemed like it was completely empty.
