US President Donald Trump has said musical performances celebrating the country's 250th birthday should be called off after several artists dropped out, citing the event's affiliation with the White House.
"Cancel it," he said in a post on Truth Social, calling the slated performers "overpriced" and "boring".
As of Sunday, only a few musical acts were still scheduled to perform out of nine featured artists originally announced on Wednesday. Martina McBride, The Commodores, Young MC and Bret Michaels dropped out.
Vanilla Ice and Milli Vanilli are still on for 26 June, as is Flo Rida on 2 July. Trump said he is now considering replacing the event with a "Make America Great Again rally".
Freedom 250 announced on Saturday that the president will headline the fair's opening ceremony. "As the visionary behind the Great American State Fair, we are excited to announce that President Trump will personally kick off this historic celebration on Wednesday, June 24 in an opening ceremony celebrating America's 250th birthday," spokeswoman Danielle Alvarez said.

Probably not the best way to unite the country and prject a positive image around the world. Trump and his sycophants, and MAGA, are hated, despised and ridiculed around the world. A *lot* of Americans share these feelings.
It's not often you see the leader of a country actively trying to destroy that country.

Given how that country is increasingly anti-science, can you imagine what'd happen if the current strain of Ebola rocked up in the USA?

Don't get my hopes up. Sensible people will ignore the insane gibberings of RFK Jr and listen to the advice from the CDC, possibly also going on the internet to check the advice from foreign health officials and governments. The morons will do what they did during Covid, and die.
This, Mr Trump, is how you make America great - wipe out 30% of the population and give those people with working brain cells a chance.

Rubio didn’t even try ‘he’s resting his eyes,’ just flat out denying the video of Trump asleep. Strict protocol in America for politicians to address each other by their title. But the President is just being called Trump by a Congressman.

There's no difference between this administration and low level drug dealers who, when caught with the evidence on them, still flat out deny it.

I hate to be the "Doubting Thomas" here, but I'm not sure he was asleep... however, a good point has been raised: why so many cognitive tests?
That's good. The US does lots wrong about government, but being able to cue up a video to prove someone is lying is the sort of thing that we might reasonably do here.

Talking of Ebola, the Republicans made a massive fuss about it in the 2014 mid terms. Of course they tied it to immigration. Black president letting in other black people who are going to get you killed. There were 11 cases.

Yeah one of the talking heads I follow made the point on why is he having an annual cognitive test every 3 months.

According to Doctor Oz (who is apparently a TV personality elevated to residential advisor) it's because he enjoys them. He likes getting all the points.
I'm not sure this is the great answer Oz thinks it is.

Well, I guess it's a chance for Susan Collins to look like a principled independent when she opposes this. Maybe a couple of the ones who are retiring. But I expect this goon will pass.

He fell asleep again in front of the cameras again yesterday apparently. And posted an AI video during the night of himself torturing an American who didn't vote for him.
