Not Scotland, then ?
Did you see that a load of Scottish fans have had their ESTAs revoked at the last minute with no explanation? These were applied for and approved in December so they went ahead and bought their tickets, booked their flights and hotels and now they can't go. The White House have implied that new information has come to light about them, I reckon the Yanks have found their wedding photos in their kilts and decided they're trans, "We don't want no Scotch faggots here!".

It wouldn't distract the knuckleheads. They need Engurland,

It's like distracting toddlers when giving them medicine, jangle some keys in the hope the noise makes them momentarily pause enough to feed them the spoon. While it's unfair on toddlers to use them in an analogy to racists, there are other similarities, such as bursting into tears when they get told off, as many, many a rioter in recent years has been reportedly done in the dock.

And it has to be the men's team. The fact that football 'came home' twice in a row with the women doesn't count.

Latest bit of leopard/face interaction - Pete Wotsit has reviewed the list of religions (and denominations thereof) recognised by the US military. He's reduced a list of 200+ to 31.

So what, you may ask. Well, he's classified Mormonism as not Christian. Folk in Utah are very concerned. Sadly probably not concerned enough to vote Democrat though.

Ironically a shooting in America has been reported due to it being within a short drive of the England camp.

Of course if it was nowhere near it wouldn't be reported as this stuff happens daily and yet Vance and Musk want to talk continuously about knife attacks that are though far higher than we would ever hope are scarce compared to Gun crime.

Maybe sort your own back yard out first you dubious race baiting cnuts.

That's a point, what happens if someone decides that a group of sportsmen attending a high profile event become a target

Well, he got upset at the BBC asking for proof that he suffered financial and reputational harm a few days ago:
The US president’s lawyers accused the BBC of a “fishing expedition”, according to court filings, after the broadcaster’s representatives asked for details to get evidence on Trump’s claims he suffered reputational and financial damage because of a Panorama documentary centred on the US Capitol riots.

It has an air of him being rattled that someone is refusing to roll over and settle out of court, as most of his American media targets do.

According to a former aide of his who is contributing to the I these days, that's his basic tactic - threaten to sue. Even if someone has him bang to rights, the sheer cost of going to court is enough to make many look to making an out of curt settlement. And if they do want to go the distance, he has the lawyers available who will drag things out to a ridiculous level. So you settle for 10 million, and consider yourself lucky you didn't get tapped for 10 billion.

But yes, if someone (or some organisation) has the money and patience to face him down, he folds.

Remember this is a guy who did lawsuit after lawsuit on an election result and failed to turn up anything. And he still he repeats it today and when challenged he walks off. Sadly the media over there then make excuses for him.

He's had another erratic day speaking to reporters. And there's this.

If Biden so much as misspoke, the press would treat it as a five-alarm emergency, but with Trump, it's no big deal.

I can't recall a better illustration of the insanity of the captured discourse.

By captured discourse I mean how the 'default' or 'right' outcome is (conservative, authoritarian) populism, and anything else is an aberration awaiting cosmic reordering, until The People's Will is visible once more.

See also: 'legitimate concerns', 'economic anxiety'. Nobody. Else. Ever. Has. 'legitimate concerns'. Etc.

There's a sense that on the right wing, the pride - inherited for sure, but still something 'we' did - in defeating Nazism and Fascism, facing down totalitarianism in general, saving the free world and so on; is tempered by having to dial down the racism in public a bit.

It was similar with Boris Johnson. "Oh it's just Boris being Boris." Even years later, Channel 4 made a jaunty comedy drama about the Downing Street lockdown parties, rather than a gritty one about him partying while many faced hardships during lockdown.

I wonder if he's going to be alive long enough to see that precious ballroom of his demolished and repurposed by the next President.
