An occurrence of the latter scenario would simultaneously bring on both unbridled laughter and urinary incontinence here...

Looks like Malcolm Offord (their leader in Scotland) has jumped ship.

These are local elections.
No local councils will be building deportation camps.
Zia is (as ever) treating his electors as chumps.

I smell desperation - in that they think they might not otherwise do as well in the English local's without such a "promise". It would appear to be a pledge, not matter how obscenely MAGA-type it is, that's more suited closer to a general election.

To where? Can't see anything about this anywhere.

Their main election slogan seems to be 'Vote Reform - get rid of Starmer.' I don't think we have to worry about their leaders placing too much trust in their voters' intelligence.

Seen the latest policy announcement from the fascists ?
Apparently, since they are proposing to round up and deport 240,000 immigrants, they want to build a number of new “detention centres”. They are saying that they won’t build any such centres in areas that have elected a Reform MP, or where they are in control of the local authority. Instead, they want to build their new concentration camps- sorry, detention centres, only in areas that have dared to elect Green Party MPs or where the Greens control the local council. A sort of punishment, one supposes. Not quite sure why they’ve singled out the Greens, but this is fucking outrageous, and I suppose, calculatedly so.

My mistake on Offord. In my defence, it was from the Scottish Sun.

Of course it's a punishment. It's also immoral and potentially illegal but Reform never bother about such trivial.

Boris Johnson 's legacy - be bold, be brazen and let the people think "They're all the same."

Greens will be targeting metropolitan seats which is where illegals mainly abscond to anyway. And also have the highest land prices. There's already a deportation procedure, its as if Reform haven't thought this through.

But it'll appeal to the hard of thinking.

It would seem to be a direct lift from the big Donald Trump book of arsehole far-right policies . They’ll be announcing ICE agents with authority to shoot to kill next.

I thought I recognized it. There were a spate of Republic*nt states shipping immigrants from Southern states to liberal north eastern areas like Martha’s Vineyard to “own the libs”

I wonder if they have any idea how much it costs to build and run a detention centre? Or how long it can take to get permission for it?

If will take at least a couple of years to get planning permission especially now the party have stated that the locations will be based on vindictiveness, then it would probably take another couple of years to build them if they can actually find companies willing to take on the contracts. (Reform keep talking about taring up Net Zero contracts which will probably alarm and company thinking of entering into an agreement with a Reform government,
The other issue is whether they will actually find staff willing to work in the centres. Given that prisons are struggling to recruit new prison officers the new centres would have to offer higher rates than prisons if they want to recruit enough staff.

As Reform oppose compulsory ID cards how will this mass detention net be achieved? Just snatch anyone of colour off the street and ask questions later. But what about their human rights? They're won't be any.
