Having a quick look, it seems the coastguards use VHF radio (as well as NAVTEX) for communication so it'd not be beyond the wit of these people to use scanners.

It is not outwith the realm of possibility that the have like-minded individuals feeding live info to them from Border Force. That KKKevin Saunders, for example, was/is a nasty piece of work.

I once met someone round a mate's who was from Border Force and yep, he too was a piece of work. Pleasant enough on first impression but the veneer was so thin it was merely printed; it didn't take much for the racist to show.

Meanwhile in Somerset..
Hat tip to Burnham-on-Sea Council who have announced they will be recovering the costs of removal of flags from the flagshaggers who put them up. I don't know if they are the first council to do this, but it's something I've long argued for. Hopefully more councils will follow suit.

I am assuming that is a reference to torching, rather than towing, the boats.

I'm not sure Andy has precise knowledge of the area, unless he bears the scars of a particularly unpleasant break at Brean Sands Pontins. (Is there any other kind of Pontins break?)

I was just pondering; given the disposition of said Flagshaggers, I feel they are more aligned with Lowe, than Farage.

Despite living in neighbouring Weston super Mare for the last eleven years, I've only ever been to Burnham once (to collect something I bought on Marketplace) and that was enough.
"Come to Burnham on Sea, it's not as flashy as that there Weston super Mare" as the tourist information leaflets might boast.

I spent one summer holiday there, aged 9. Actually quite liked it. We went to places like Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge, and didn't spend much time on the beach.

But yeah, glad you got the joke. Here all week etc.
