Right, so lazy Mediterranean Catholics vs industrious North European Protestants? Got you.

The mastery of time is a pretty amazing modern innovation of the industrial revolution but it doesn't mean as much in agrarian economies or developing countries emerging from them. Not sure this applies to Latino immigrants working their bollocks off in US agriculture for minimum wage.

There's undoubtedly something to be said for cultural uses and understandings of time, just as there is also something to be said for not making twee cartoons about generalised concepts and applying them as essentialist characteristics to entire groups of people.
Looks like Trump wants to up the stakes to move towards federal imposed martial law. The paranoid fantasies of right wing militia types are becoming real thanks to the president they love so much.

Maybe Rep. Miller thought it was Sinbad the sailor
In partial fairness, South Asians haven't loomed very large in America, and probably do now chiefly as possible Jihadis. I remember watching cricket with my brother's (American) wife and she was flummoxed by Monty Panesar's headgear. He didn't wear a full turban, just something that covered his hair, which allowed him more mobility, and meant he could wear a batting helmet.
I quite like the awareness that most of us have here, even if it probably came from "controversy" about motor bike helmets rather than any empathy.

fuck all those logistics nerds, we are a military of WARFIGHTERS!
And how that's going, somewhere on the outskirts of L.A.

TACO has now claimed that the National Guard were just a precaution and he's dropped all talk of sending in the Marines.

Tell that to the Marines.
No need, they know they haven't been sent in. All that's happened is they've moved from one base to another.

And nobody has mentioned Epsteen in the last couple of days.

Creating a democrat figurehead and opponent is a bit of a glaring mistake.
It's what I said is lacking if the party wins a trifecta, there is no one the democrats can crystalize around, the Republicans haven't suffered this since Trump committed his life to the Presidency and I'm not saying Gavin Newson should be the candidate however it gives a Democrat leadership and air time and threatening to arrest an elected governor really doesn't look good on any level.

Exactly. Or Ukraine, or Gaza, or the price of eggs and "gas"*, game set and match to TACO Trump.
*It's a fucking liquid you ignorant buffoons.
Probably because "gasoline" is too difficult.

I am minded to cut Jonny Foreigner some slack on this one, partly because "Gasoline" was originally an English word.

Bring back "motor spirit", I say.

I was criticising the more commonly used "gas".

Of course, we Britons would never dream of allowing shortened versions of words to enter common usage. Petroleum, omnibus, bicycle, motorcycle, aeroplane etc. have never been shortened. Anyway, infernal combustion engines don't burn liquid. They burn motor spirit vapour - a gaseous substance.
Calor delivered four 47kg bottles of propane to me yesterday. We call it gas even though it's delivered in liquid form. What's the difference between that and petroleum spirit?
