Well, maybe. PM Streeting would definitely have her back, no question, and I think PM Burnham would too. I think even Starmer would as well, if she and him can resolve the issue that supposedly prompted her to resign.

She said he has 'the resilience of a cockroach in a nuclear war'. That's not too terrible.

Here's a sobering thought.

In the last 100 years, Labour in government has changed Prime Ministers just twice in mid-term, in 1976 (Wilson to Callaghan) and in 2007 (Blair to Brown).

Both occasions were followed by four consecutive general election defeats and extended periods of damaging right-wing government (then the Tories, today Reform).

Much as the thought terrifies me, Reform just won't form a majority government but they would be very vocal, shit-stirring little cunts in a coalition encouraging Badenoch to be an even more spiteful individual.

Reform will likely be the biggest party in any coalition.

It would be odd to make Badenoch the leader considering the opinion of some of its voters. Maybe they find a solution that meets both party interests and that may be Jenrick.

Whether the proscription is proportionate or not, this sort of thing does my head in. That's what the law very much seemed to say, and there was no reason to support Palestine Action as you protested Israel's war crimes in Gaza. Lots of people break the law and are happy to take the consequence. To break the law on a vague hunch that the law can't mean you and anyway lawyers will get you out of it, seems a bit silly.
